Had a buddy come over today to help tweak a few things on the Vert, And a lifter started tapping..So we pulled the valve covers and cranked the motor over to find out we were getting no oil to the top end . We then remove the dizzy and the oil filter to check the pump, and low and behold oil just pumps out of the filter like it should. So the conclusion he came to is that an oil galley plug behind the timing cover came out, broke, who the hell knows!!!!
I'm going to my engine builder in the morning to talk to him about it, and I'm sure they will make it right.. But the big pisser is I know that they are going to want me to pull the motor back out and bring it to them !!!!!
Which I know to some people isn't that big of a deal, but with my back problems it'll be a pain in the ASS for me to do!!!!!!
Not much of a rant, But I'm really Pissed off As this motor has about 20 minutes of run time, and took me a good month just to get it in and started for the first time..
Thanks for listening!!!!!

Ah shit dude, this SAME EXACT thing happened to a build of mine like 2 weeks ago.
You should be able to get your car in the air, loosen your oil pan, and feel around the bottom of the oil pan for the plug.

I feel for you. My back is probably the biggest hinderance to me having the motivation to work on mine.

And how did you put the plug back in???

Had to drop the power steering rack, unbolt the oil pan, pull down hard on the pan to get enough room for your hand to fit in it then fish it out....then....
...had to pull the accessories off, drop the timing cover, and punch a new one back in....
But at least while your there you can make sure your gaskets are good to go etc.
(After I reread that I thought I should be clear: you can either jack your motor up to get in to the pan or you can undo your rack....each of which is a pain in the effen neck.)

Just pray the machine shop didn't hone the lifter bores. Been there done that. Its a common practice on chevy motors and it doesn't affect oil pressure. On a sbf, its critical.

Well I went and talked to the engine builder, He is Stepping up to the plate!!! They are actually coming to my house and pulling the motor and fixing it, At no cost to me!!!
I have to say that my going in and talking to them about it, Versus going in and ranting and raving had a lot to do with their decision. I knew they would stand behind the engine, But I never imagined that they would do this.. I will keep everyone posted on the outcome!!!

C&E they are located in Springfield, I found them by chance.. it's just 2 guys that own it, Chuck and Ed ( hence the C & E) LOL. But I'm very impressed, for a builder to stand behind a motor that has been installed and started. And to come to my house to fix it versus the old take it out and bring it here..

There is a guy in springfield that assembled my 408 for me about 10 yrs ago. He came highly recommended by my uncle who used to race at the shady bowl. Just curious if it was him.

The builder came over today!!! He pulled the front of the motor apart, and it was 2 galley plugs that had came out. He is going to replace all 3 plugs on the front, as well as the timing chain and gears, and all the gaskets. He is also supplying me with 2 gallons of antifreeze and a case of oil and 2 filters, So needless to say I'm pretty happy with the out come. He is coming back on Friday to put everythig back together, So I should have it running this weekend!!!!!!!!

THE STANG IS RUNNING!!!!!!!!!! My builder finished up everything this morning, He even media blasted my timing cover and harmonic balancer.. We got everything buttoned up and she fired on the first crank!!! I really appreciate all he did for me by stepping up and coming to me to fix it, he replaced all the galley plugs, new timing chain and gears, and all new gaskets and seals. I even took it around the block for the first time!!!!
It won't be long now and I can make it to KK or to the Greene to let everyone see what they've only seen in pics.. And by the way I have killer oil pressure now!!! LOL
