I just got an MSD digital 6 plus. it wasnt new, but fresh back from msd being checked out. It was in my car for like 45 minutes of run time. I backed the car out of the garage today to take a cruise. It ran for like 1 minute, and they shut off. I was like well shit...... I pulled a plug and sure enouph, no spark. I bypassed the msd, and it fired right up. I called up msd, and they told me to get fucked basically! So what do I do now? Suck it up and buy another one? It had to just be a lemon ignition box. The new one should be fine right?

They should be able to repair it for a fee, far cheaper than buying a new one.

Mallory. I've been through enough MSD wires and coils to say screw them...

Man, I had a bad dizzy from them once and went back to the stock one....
I run their digital 6 now and haven't had any issues... Mine is mounted inside.... I would give it another shot or maybe look into another ignition company... Good Luck!

Mine is also mounted inside the car. Ive never had a problem out of my 6al, then I go to the digital 6 to get rid of the chips. Msd told me since it is out of warranty even though they just checked it out, I would have to give them 200 dollars for a remanufactured one. BULLSHIT!!!

Those digital boxes should be tied to a floating ground with all the other electrical components. They don't like chassis ground.

I have the dgitial 6 plus, the only thing i have had any issue with is since I started using the msd box is I have blown alot of ignition fuses. I came to find out that the guy i got my car from had to small of a fuse. but back in march when i got my car together it ran fine for a week or so and my dig 6 stoped working, I unhooked it then reconnected it still nothinhg then did it again and it starting working and still works now, but i have had good luck with it doing what i needed.

send me an email and I'll attach the pdf instruction manual. It says to negative term of battery or the engine.

I have the instruction manual. I do have it directly hooked to the battery ground and positive. Were my rear seat used to be. There is a firewall now. I bought some through panel battery terminals, so now I have it hooked directly to that.

Don't they have a repair program that you can send any MSD component back and they will fix it for 75 bucks or something?

Mine is in the trunk, mounted upside-down under the rear deck. Out of the way, dry, and cool.

The car is in my garage at home. I'll try to see if I can get a pic of it. It's kind of in a strange place, so getting my big ol camera in there can be a little tough.

We've blew up two Mallory Dist. and burnt up one Mallory coil in our race car. The MSD Dist. has lasted long time in it. Also the race car is running a MSD 6T and I'm running a 6AL and neither one of them has had a problem. Now I do have a Mallory Dist in my slow five O liter and it is just fine for street use but I would never install one in a race motor again.

They don't like heat either.
That being said, my wife's uncle is running his on the driver's side inner fender.
