Got an 87 GT that needs a replacement radiator core support. Anyone doen this? I know it has to be welded in and the old one has to have the welds cut out. Just wondering if anyone has any watch outs before I attempt it.

There not bad if you know what your doing. Why does it need replaced? Wrecked or rusty?

Initially I thought it was pretty out of wack (not rusted at all). But looking at it closer it looks like i'll be able to bend it back to position with a pretty nice size pry bar. It is really just the bottom of the support that is slightly bent.

If you do cut it out, get a 3/8's spotweld cutting bit (looks like a mini holesaw with a pin in the middle) Go easy and take your time, and dont go fast, put your drill on a lower speed, ONLY cut thru the first layer of steel, that way you have something to weld to. I just Re-skinned the roof on my '88 hatchback. I'm just going to cut the bottom half of my core support off and make a custom bar with radiator pads mounted to it.
