Sitting here at the end of my bed is a shelf, I've got a few precious mustang parts on it that I dont want to get in the weather, one of them is an A9L computer that came out of my '89 GT, Well ever since I stripped that car and sent it to the scrapyard I never really looked at any of the parts I had, I had them and that was good enough, well I got to looking at this A9L and realized that the black plastic unit on the back of it was NOT stock, from looking at several other stock ECU's... Well I went to Steves house (Steves_LX) to hang out tonight, and brought my A9L to show him, we tinkered with it and the black plastic piece popped off... it turns out its an old Hypertech chip!!!

How useful are these to 5.0's???

anyone have any info on them I can read up on???

the Part Number on it is: PN-689151

Then there is another number... SN-691920

And then Hypertech (C) 1996... which I know what that means, lol

I don't think those are "tunable". Just a juiced up conversion, of stock fuel and spark curves. Better than stock? Probably. No where near as good, as a tunable chip though.

I guess what I'm saying is, on a stock motor, some improvement.

On a heavily modded motor, you'd be better off, with a custom tune.

No wonder my 89 GT with a stock grand marquis motor ran like a scalded dog!
