It doesnt do it all of the time just enough to drive me nuts. It only seems to do it between 2500 and 3000 rpm,the colder it is the more it does it.The timing is set at 20 degrees, if I go any lower the popping gets bad. I have played with the fuel pressure (32 all the way to 42), I just put a complete MSD ignition on it,box,coil,dist.wires and no difference. no vacuum leaks,no codes. Im at a loss. any suggestions would be very appreciated.

How did you set the base timing? Pull the spout connector and set timing to 10 degrees. Put the spout connector back in the timing should go back up.

With the spout connector out it will hardly run at 10 degrees

spun balancer? put it on number one tdc... and see where the timing pointer is on the balancer

if its poppin and crackin when u nail it good it sounds like ur intake think u need a victor jr

it pops under light throttle, a havent noticed it at w.o.

Check your base engine stuff. Compression Test and a cylinder ballance test will tell you a ton of information.

you would think it would do it all of the time if it was a valve or push rod ?

You would think the car would run right on 10 degrees base timing. I still say do a compression test and leak down test to rule out the basic engine stuff. That way you are not throwing parts at it. Most the time when I hear popping through the intake I think of a valtrain problem A leak down will tell you what cylinder the problem is coming from.
