Hey everyone, I'm checking into building a 5.4 bottom end for my buddies 99 Cobra vert. I really want to put the factory set of 4v heads on top. I'm trying to figure out how to make it all come together. The Cobra has the 4v heads on it from the factory, and it would be nice to use those. With that being said, can I use a Navigator intake on top or does someone make an aftermarket set-up for it? All info is appreciated, and greatly accepted. Thanks in advance...:D

I did a quick search on Modular Fords and it appears that the navigator intake is not an option.

HHHHMMMMMMM makes me wonder... I do have a friend that makes custom aluminum lowers for the 5.0 & 5.8 motors. Does anybody else have any options???

Yeah aftermarket support for that swap is almost non-existant. Sullivan makes a 5.4 DOHC intake but it is really suppoe to kill low end power. From what I gathered though you may be able to use a Navigator lower intake and the half custom fabricated.

That's what I was thinking about doing. My buddy makes some nice pieces, and if either will fit then he can handle the other end...Thanks for thwe quick replies too...:bigthumb

There are only a couple intakes available that will work.

One is the boss 260/290 itnake from Australia that comes with a very hefty price tag, It also requres porting to match the Navi heads since the aussie motors use the 03/04 4v heads.

The Sullivan is an option and it mates up to Navi heads. However, if this is a street motor that is intended for use under 7500rpm then it's not a good option. If you do shoose to go with the Sullivan the stock cams just flat will not work. You need a very tight LSA and a lot more overlap than the stockers provide.

MMR makes an intake for a NAvi headed 5.4, but it has not proven to make any power. It uses the runners from a Navi intake and has a hughe box plenum (way too big), its okay for FI I guess but for n/a it stinks.

Oh, there are also no long tube headers available for a 5.4 in a mustang.

I am sure stainless works could build some headers for you....its just a matter of money.

Stainless and Kooks both have jigs to make them and for your first born they will gladly make you a set. If I remember right the set from Kooks was $1400 two years ago.

One more thing, stock cams or an LSA close to stock will not work with either intake; power will suufer everywhere.
