View Full Version : A tornado picture worth seeing.

My brother called me from Kansas last week or the week before and told me that there was a tornado that hit a town about 10 miles from his house. I'm not sure if he was exaggerating or not, but he said 90% of the town was destroyed. Anyway, today he sent a picture of the monster and it's crazy looking. I can't imagine seeing this headed my way.:eek:

saw that picture a few days ago, NUTS!! i'd still like to see one once, but not at my house :eek:

right after taking that picture I am sure the photographer said hey yall ain't gonna believe this shit.

Pretty amazing picture, you would think being that close to the funnel cloud that you would see some debris around it.

Zoomtowns homepage said that twister briefly touched down, then went back into the sky. It showed that exact picture.

Interesting, he didn't take the picture, just sent it to me. I'll look up the town and see what I can find out.

On the evening of June 11, 2008, a 1/2 mile wide tornado swept through Chapman. The tornado moved from the southwest side of town, through the central business district, and then on out of town. Many buildings and structures in the town suffered extensive damage; most of the downtown area was obliterated and over 60 homes were destroyed. At least one person was confirmed dead in early reports.[5] The American Red Cross estimated that seventy-five percent of homes suffered major damage and/or were destroyed. School buildings and churches suffered extensive damage and at least 200 people were displaced from the town.[6]

Ok then. I remember reading what I said above and seeing that pic. Maybe zoomtown provided incorrect info? Zoomtown is not displaying that page anymore, just comes up blank.
