I know this kinda question always comes up.

Only real power adders engine wise are the CAI and the 75mm Accufab TB/polished plenum. I most likely will be that way for a few more years.

I'd like to not be too high in the RPMs crusing on the highway either.

What gearing would be the best for my situation. I know I will feel an improvement regardless of what I go with, most likely letting Modular Depot do the work.

3.73 best all around gear for what you got

4.10's

Don't fear the gear.

Is your car an auto or manual? If its an auto, you really can't go wrong with the 4.10, if its a manual most guys love the 3.73 with some daily driving and highway travel. The 3.90 gear wasn't always available, so I think with either transmission it would be a decent compromise. .02

I have 4.10's in my 5 spd. 98 and I wouldn't hesitate to drive it to work (35 miles) or two Columbus for the NMRA race with the 4.10's. Mod motors love shot gears.

To quote the famous Ken @ MD - "4.10 on a mod N/A, 3.73 on a mod S/C." I put 4.10's in my 02 and was a bit nervous until I drove it. Wakes the little edge body up. If in doubt go 3.90. They do make that intermediate gear as well.

Sorry thought my edit took place.

I have a manual. How is gas mileage on 4.10s? :) Of course I dont worry about mileage too much anyway..since the car isnt a daily driver.

I heard you run out of first so quick in 4.10s...and maybe years down the road I might throw a SC on..so maybe 3.73s should be the way to go..

mods need the gear. If your doing a power adder in say 3+ years down the road then do the 4.10 now. I did 3.73s in mine 5 years ago and wished I did the 4.10. Now with the turbo set up the 3.73 should work nicely.

I get about 23 mpg with mine if I drive like I normal person.

How much top end do you lose with 4.10s?

at least 4.10's. I still pull around 20 mpg mixed with my 4.56's.

Edgewater through the traps last summer I was just hitting the 6K mark at just over 100mph. Top end speed estimated on a differential calculator with the standard tremec 3650was right @ 165 @ 6200 RPM if memory serves me correctly. Remember there were a few tremecs (assuming yours has a tremec) that had a slightly lower gear ratio in fifth the the standard tremec.

With regard to the MPG, I know many will think I am high on drugs or just lost in my old age (43), but I drove the 02 to North Carolina last summer and I fell over when I did the first calculation at fill up which came out to 25 MPG running 5-9 over the speed limit with cruise on and no A/C. It did better on the second tank peaking over 26 MPG. Unless the calculator I was using is stoned or I was seeing things at an older age I don't know. YES a tune had been loaded to correct for the offset. This was verified several times @ 60mph showing 60 seconds mile marker to mile marker each time. My 05 stock this year going down got 25 MPG running with the A/C on. Wives - can't take them anywhere without the A/C on.

What gears do you have in the 02?

My 01 was built in the first half of 01..like around Feb-March..not sure which tranny its got..I'd have to look..I know the changed around mid year.

I got respectful MPG with the 4.10 gears. Interstate trip with A/C off I was shocked enough at the first fill up on the way to NC that I double checked the math. Just over 25 MPG running 5-9 over the speed limit. Got slightly better an the second. All in all over the trip just under 26 MPG. City, now that's a little different. between 18-20 if you are easy on it. First gear is usable. Top end is actually not bad. The engine doesn't labor getting there. It will still bury the Speedo. Traps showed MPH between 99-101 MPH at edgewater running 13.83 -14.1 average depending on track conditions over five visits last summer. Best mod for the money with a 2V 4.6 mod IMO.

I went 410's to 373's on my 98 Cobra I had and it was a big mistake. You will love 410's. I could peg the spedo on it (160 MPH) and still not be to the red line yet. When I put the 373's in I hated them. I only gained 2 or 3 MPG when I switched. You wont be dissapointed in the 410's! I'm pretty sure you will not be able to notice loosing any top end with the 410's. Just my $.02

I know that you're wondering how much you will loose on the top end, but what I gotta ask is How often do or will you be driving at 150+ on the highway. So I wouldn't be too worried with the top end.. When I go to do the gears ( hopefully soon!!) I'm going with at least 4.10s

4.10's are the way to go for you IMO. I love my 4.30's but my trans makes it very livable.

4.10's

Don't fear the gear.

I drive Huber Heights to Franklin everyday on my 4.10 gear. The only complaint I have about it...It's not a 4.30 or 4.56.

i just switched out my 3:73's and went to 3:55's ......car feels faster now that i can stay in 1st and 2nd more and is noticeably better on gas

forgot to add my 3:73's were worn down to almost nothing ( measuring the teeth had about 1/4 inch wore off ) and i had a brand new set of 3:55's in the garage......so instead of spending another $160 i put them in

I've got 4.10s and i'm considering stepping down to 3.73s. I like to have a balance between street and strip and i think 4.10s lean more towards strip. My car sees the highway more than it sees the strip so i think i'd be happier with 3.73s.

I believe the original gear on that car was 327:1 or something like that. It was not the 308:1. The 4.10:1 went in and WOW!!!:)
