im going to be starting another motor build up soon and i need some opinions on what to go with.

my choices are going and putting a bottem end in my 302 and taking it to either a 331 or 347

or

Starting A BBF 460 that a friend of mine has sitting

either setup would be going with a forged rotating assembly, w/ aluminum heads and staying with a carb'd setup with some spray

Any thoughts?

I vote the more the more CIDS the better. A big mild 460 will make you smile. Put a kit on it and you might soil yourselft.

i agree with the bbf stuff, ive done several streetable! flat tappet cam combos,
made 650+hp@6000rpm and 650 tq. on the motor with out of the box heads.
get my A-head combo done next summer itll be 900hp on the motor

Hopefully very soon I'll have some dyno #'s to share. Mine is just a basic 429 w/ 11.5-1 compression w/ a hydro cam, intake, headers and carb. I also have a stock bottom end and untouched stock heads so I'll be able to give you an idea of what a budget combo can make.

i like the idea of going with a stock head, and rotating assembly for now.

i priced aluminum heads... 1031Each.... ouch.

i was thinking about going with the 460, a decent cam, springs, intake and a carb that'll support it.

how big of a cam would be useable with stock heads and pistons without clearence issues?

i've got a 600DP holly on my 302 right now, would it be possible to rejet it to support a BBF on lets say, a 100shot on a plate?

so i'll prolly end up either shelving my 302 or selling it to fund my BB project.

Big blocks like big cams. Also at the very minimum you will need a 750 carb but if you are running nitrous I would just go ahead and invest in a 950.

but how big of a cam is TOO big.. i dont want to smack pistons the first time it gets turned over.

You need to go to 460ford.com when you have a couple hours and read up. They have lots of good info on exactly what you want to do. Good luck and I'll keep you posted on mine.

im waiting to get an admin to authorize me on there.. i decided not to take my car to the track this week.. i might start taking it apart and getting it ready for the bbf.

instead we're taking a Single turbo supra on ET streets. made 632 on a street tune with 8*of timing. there's at least 100hp more avalible with timing. i've got a video of it in the link to my streetfire vids.
