My original thread from many years ago was deleted so I thought I'd put a few updated pics up. I just got it back and havn't got the interior back together yet and the underside needs a little cleaning as well. So this is what I have for now.

Also a reminder for those who have never seen what I started with

And a shot of what it looked like before I just got it back with the latest additions.

I'll have some more updated pics in a day or two.

Here a couple more I snapped today. I still have alot of detail work to do on the interior and under the hood. Not to mention get the new hood and then figure out if I wanna do paint or a full wrap. I would like some opinions on whether to polish my valve covers, motor plate and radiator mount or powder coat them all black. I've also considered pc'ing the wheels black as well.

Definitely don't powder coat the wheels. Nothing like shiny Welds on a black coupe.

Nice clean car Kenny!!! I like the idea of a gloss black powder coat on the motor plate. (polish would be alot to maintain) I would polish the valve covers and rad mount, then do the intake in bright metallic silver as well as the water pump, but I would leave the wheels alone, or go with a set of M/T ones. They are a lot less common around here. There seems to be alot of black coupes with pro-stars.

Which hood ya going with?

mustang8998
08-29-2008, 09:44 AM
Since you are only allowed to drive it on the street, (;)) might as well put a little bling under the hood. So, yes, polish that aluminum up!

As for the wheels, I don't know. I've seen some with the centers painted and they where okay. I guess thats a personal choice.

The car looks great Kenny. I'm sure it will look even better, with the hood and the other "little things" finished up. :bigthumb

Which hood ya going with?

I'm putting a HO Fibertrends 4" cowl hood on it.

mustangboy
09-13-2008, 04:32 PM
Well I actually did a little work today. First is a pic of the new hood. I still need to drill the holes for the hood pins. Next is a pic of the engine limiters and alt mount before during and after powder coating. First is how they looked after removing middle is after blasting and last is before they go back on the car. The are far from perfect as they were not going to be seen so I didn't prep them to be perfect. Oh yeah I did powder my valve covers gloss black earlier this week. Hopefully I'll start tearing the intake and motor plate off to be powdered and also get my new cam installed here very soon.

Yeah I'm gonna give the e85 a shot and see how it works. I just picked up a set of ported big chamber heads which will allow me to go to pump gas if the e85 becomes to much of a hassle to get. Here are a few more of my progress. Got a couple more things coated in black and got the intake done as well. Should have everything coated by this weekend so should be going back together soon.

Got a little more powder coating done in the last few days. I did the motor plate, front cover and did the lettering on the v/c's. Here are a couple pics of the progress. Sorry about the quality they were taken in a not very well lit garage. Also picked up a few new things today from Craig, thanks again dude for the great deals!!

Here is the v/c and yes I know there were a couple outgassing bubbles in the black. That was one of the very first pieces I did and have since learned how to correct that. BTW they look killer in natural light.

I have managed to get most of the things I wanted to powder coat done now I just need to get the cam back in and let her eat. Here is a pic of the stuff just sitting on the engine to get an idea what it will look like. I'll also be painting the dizzy cap black and getting black plug wires and if the money is there I'll swap the braided hose and fittings out for black stuff. BTW if anyone would like something powdercoated feel free to pm me for a quote.

Nope guys not a joke, here is the proof. Not to make excuses but it is through an auto w/ a 3.08 gear pulling big ol 325/50 drag radials. I know that won't make a huge difference but I'm sure it making a bit lower. I guess it is what it is and it gives a starting point to work from. I am bringing it home Wed so I'll take it down the road and see how it actually feels on the street. BTW thanks to Craig and Adam at Cincy Speed in getting it to this point. Adam did some really nice work on the car. They did not build the motor so the low #'s is not of their making.

This car was exactly what I wanted a couple years ago but did not make sense to keep around. The wife still says no racing and I can't really drive the family around in it so it is just gonna sit in the garage. That is alot of money to just sit there. I also wanted to free up some cash to get my big oven and spray booth. So now I have a 2008 Polaris Ranger and a 1993 notchback roller that are both for sale. I may have a deal on the car already so will keep you guys posted on that.

Not that anyone cares about a car I don't even own anymore but the guy did take it to the track. With no mods he ran a 7.29 w/ a 1.50 60'. That is with a 3.08 gear and he's going to put a 4.56 in it so it should get out of the hole alot better. Not too shabby for only 270hp, I guess dynos don't really tell the whole story do they.
