Yamaha released the specs of the 2009 R1. The crank is unique. It now fires, and sounds, like a V4.

Wow, it does have a unique sound to it doesn't it? Not sure what I think, I'd need to hear it up close.

I'd like to ride one, but then I would want one, so I better not.

That R1/R6's have always been some of my favorite bikes and that one is no exception. If my wife were to let me have a bike and it couldn't be a Ducati then that would be it.

I love R1s. I have never owned one or even rode on one, but I did have a R6 and it seemed like everytime I would see a R1, I would want a R1 instead.

Thats because you've got a good head on your shoulders. Your thinking, " if 600CC's is this cool, imagine what the 1000CC feels like!" :D
Yes, it really is that good!

I guess if I bought my bikes strictly on looks, then this one would run a close third to Duc, and Agusta MV. Fortunately for me, I buy them to run the sh!t outta them, so GIXXER's and Busa's all the way baby!!! But Yamaha does do a nice job of building a pretty machine, just never cared for the ride, or powerband. Too swervy on the chassis and too soft on the low end for me...Just my .02 cents though...
