i need some advice. I'm in the middle of eliminating my air conditioning, and i am going to go ahead and eliminate the smog pump while i'm at it. So, here's my scenario; what do i need to do to eliminate this pump? It doesn't look to be too bad to eliminate but, not sure so that;s why i'm asking. Any advice will be great.

either buy the smog delete setup to make it and idler, or do as i did and route around it, here is a belt routing chart for most all setups on a 5.0, and all the smog crap prolly weighs 35lbs or more.

well, i've already taken the pump off, and i'm not positive but don't the air tubes go into the back of the heads?

the plugs that go into the back of the heads are called thermactor plugs. i bought mine from trickflow but i think they sell them at napa too. shouldnt be more than about 5 bucks a piece.

I just stopped in at airport ford in florence and got their last 2. 17.xx each. WOW. Didn't expect that. I also got the one off the stud that came out of the head in the front. I put a new one in the front but the rear was a little tricky. Where the pipes connect, the holes were full of carbon deposits. I mean Full!! I used a battery terminal wire cleaner and just spun it till I saw threads. I tried brake cleaner but it seemed to come out better dry. The 2 new ones had some sort of thread sealer on them. I used some silicone on the old one. They did bottom out in the head. You won't think they will but they will.
My motor is on a stand so it was cake. Doing this in the car is going to be a bitch. Good luck.

what's the difference in stock 302 heads and GT40P's? I don't know that's why i'm asking.

stock should be e7's on yours, the gt40's outflow them and the p's have a centerd combustion chamber, but the plugs go straight out instead of angled to accomplish that, so you need "P" specific headers. e7's are horribly restrictive in stock form

AND GT40P's have NO smog bullcrap on the front/back of the heads.
