well after the power came back on i go downstairs to get on the internet.... play some games online.....

my computer will not power back on? wtf..... So after an hour and half of playing with it i wiggle the cable going from my power supply to the motherboard and it turns on now. But i have to wiggle that cable to get it to turn on WTF ?

time to surf the net to see if anyone else has had this problem before... odd thing is, the cable seems tight , its a 6 month old power supply and motherboard, and all new cables ?

:screwy:

Don't waste your time researching it. Just drop $50 on a new PS. Me and my fellow geeks will more than happy to give you a tutorial on how to replace it.

The reason I say don't dick with it, is because you can fry more than your PS if you have a loose power cable because of arching (right spelling? lol), the amperage surge will fry boards and chips alike.

i might just got ahead and do that.... i have 2 surge protectors on my computer gear and i still got a surge.. wtf.....

i'm not real sure if the power supply will fix all the problems though..... why would the cable on motherboard need to be wiggled ?

I agree with Paul. Just go ahead and replace it.

OfficeMax usually has 350Watt power supplies in stock for 40.00. Antec at that, not some cheap brand that will die in 2 months.

Just make sure it has enough to power your stuff. ;)

I don't do anything less than 400w. My video card is power hungry. :D

Try something like this website to determine what you're going to need.
http://www.schrockinnovations.com/powercalc.php

ETA:
FYI, Using that calculator it says I could make do with 344 watts, but it wouldn't turn on with my old 350w.
