I swapped the coupe this saturday over to a five speed. Now it vibrates really bad between 2500-3500.Below that or above it,it will smooth out and be fine.I had the flywheel turned that came from my other mustang. Its 50oz flywheel. The clutch kit and tranny and drive shaft also came from my other mustang.Weather your sitting still or driving it doesnt matter.I did notice that the engine in the coupe is NOT the original one,or if it is it has been rebuilt. Its got one of those little stick on things on one of the freeze plugs that if it gets to hot it will fall off that some of the rebuilders use.Do you guys think its a different balance motor. And if so how the hell do i tell.

Take a pic of the weight on the back of the flex plate, lay a tape measure next to it so I can get a feel for the size of the weight. I can let you know what the balance is.

That is 50 oz. Did you put a pilot bearing in the back of the crank when you did the swap? Had you driven the trans before the swap?

If that is a current pic of your crank, you don't have a pilot bearing in the crank, that would cause a serious vibration.

That first pic is of the front of the crank.Where the pully goes.I did put a new pilot bearing in.I had driven the trans for a couple of thousand miles in my other car.ALL the stuff i used is from my other car. When i put the trans in it seemed like the pilot bearing was a little tight and i had to really try to get the trans in.Is it possible i have the wrong pilot bearing??

I guess the wrong size pilot bearing would be a bad thing but then again I dont think it would have fit in there in the first place. Like Mike said have you driven a car with that 5 speed before? I just hope you dont have the same issue going on that Mike and I found with my old motor. The jackoff's that put it together got in a hurry or drank one to many and didn't check their clearances and the rear main bearing said see ya. The car ran great great and all of a sudden I went out and started it it one day and drove up the street and low and behold vibrating like crazy no matter if I was sitting still or driving.

The other thing you might want to check is whether or not the motor isn't binded up on ya in the mounts. Did you loosen up the motor mounts when you did this swap or did you just drop the tranny? I did that once and when I stabbed the tranny back in and raised it back up, the one side of the motor walked up on me which put everything in a bind and I had a vibration similar to what you are describing.

And Steve is a professional foxbody engine pulling specialist! He'll pull his engine 4 times in a day if he has to!!

Well i swapped the AOD back in there.Runs like a champ. No shaking vibrating or anything.I dont know,im going to wait till the stroker is done and run the 5 speed then.Should be fun with boost.
