There are holes everywhere in the bottom end several in the pan, main bearing bolts hanging out of it, cracks in the lifter valley, broke the starter clean off, its laying over in the lower control arm. The block broke in so many places I cant count them all right now. It sucks, there was no sign of something going to happen, it was on a good pass probably a personal best and then a huge explosion and I had my hands full trying to stop and not wreck it. The whole under side and rear bumper were covered in oil.

Dohhh, Are they stock, hypers, or forged?

mustangjon
09-20-2008, 11:32 PM

MFIELD

No, forged TRW replacements

MFIELD

Its hard to tell from the pics how far the front pulley is out of shape, its bent upward so far it hit my electric water pump so hard it bent the bolts and put a gouge in the pump. The whole front cover is broken out.

I would like to thank Rich for coming over and help tear it down, it was good for a few laughs.

Timido
09-20-2008, 11:45 PM

MFIELD

An engine diaper and some duct tape would have been a better choice!

I said that today, should've kept my damn mouth shut. I guess I got away with it for a long time. That motor has been together for about 5-6 years.

It's a sad day for the little 5.0 that could. That engine has been through hell. I'm surprised it lasted this long. I forgot to tell you, I also have that 460 you could use...if I could find a bell housing and clutch assembly maybe we could muscle that bitch in for a temp.

MFIELD
09-21-2008, 08:43 AM
We'll see, also thanks to big Rob and his friends for helping me get it loaded yesterday.

What happened to the trans?

MFIELD
09-21-2008, 07:53 PM
The front bearing retainer snapped off in 3 pieces. I am going to have to check inside to make sure nothing else is broken inside. The way my luck is going who knows.

Rich
09-21-2008, 07:57 PM
Well... lets get my piece finished up and all of the bugs worked out...you can use it for the last race! Start your 408 big turbo combo early!

MFIELD
09-21-2008, 08:00 PM

Wow! Reminds me of my first renegade motor. Only thing holding it together was the bellhousing. Let me know if you need any help.

Sorry about the carnage Mike... My stroker engine bit the dust 2 years ago and I remember it well...

Glad you got it stopped ok... Hope you make it back out this year... That's a super nice car!
