I am looking to build or buy a complete stroker engine. I have looked at DSS set ups and a few others. I would like to get one locally if I can but dont really have any shops that are around here. Im hoping to get a few ideas of reputable shops maybe around the Dayton or Cincy area. Im basically wanting a 331 or 347 I can run naturally aspirated or with maybe 8psi. Aluminum Heads, preferably AFR. This is going in a street car that goes to cruise ins and stuff. Its not a race car. Any opinions or ideas would be greatly appreciated. I have around $5500 to $6500 to play with so I just want to do as much as possible with the funds I have. Thanks for any help in advance. I have a half ass idea of what I want, But i just need to find someone to give my $$ to do it!! Car will need tuned also.

Contact Mike at Dayton Performance. 937-835-1150. He can get you squared away. He's built a few very impressive all motor strokers lately. You can talk to rixxx93gt about the engine he built for him. He is also a supporter of this site as well.

I just realized how many shop owners are on here. I dont want animosity from shop to shop! So i welcome anyone to pm me with opinions, ideas, options, or phone numbers. Thanks again. I have heard good things about alot of the Ohio shops.

If it's just a cruiser, consider a 351w with stock crank/rods and a decent piston, 11:1 comp, vic jr's/afr 205, 1-3/4 headers, will hold more power (block), make more power, and should be cheaper. I think rick88coupe has a 351 shortblock that needs rebuilt for sale.

I am sticking with a 302 based engine. I want to drop it in and be ready to go! Its getting a supercharger come spring so a little 347 will be fine.
the place i've been communicating with and been by a bunch of times is CRT performance. their in norwalk ohio so itde be a drive for you if you live in the southern ohio area. its a ~2 hour drive for me to get there.

I live in East Central Indiana. Norwalk is a hell of a drive for me. Ibstrokin got me sidetracked looking at 351 shit now. THANKS Brian! I tried to pm the infamous Mike Bell but his pm box is full. Hopefully he reads this! I will call him very soon if not. Not in a huge hurry since the car is still being driven though.

I cleaned it out! Sorry! 351 stuff is cool, the blocks take a lot of abuse. The pinks motor was proof of that. Rick88coupe is good people, so if he has a block for sale, I'd get with him if you decide to go windsor route.

Your welcome. Really, windsors are no more difficult to install than a 302, especially if your starting from scratch. Good luck

Go with a windsor now, so you don't regret it!

WINDSOR!!!!! If your starting from scratch like said before. stroked 388 will go 9.80's but a stroked 418 will go 9.60's (Right Chad) But really you can't beat a good windsor. my .02

I ended up with a 331 with AFR 185s and a custom ground cam. With tuning it should be around 400 to the wheels. Its a street car, it should feel great with that and a T56 6-speed behind it. I still have the funds for a turbo or supercharger so if the NA combo isnt enough! I am excited to get it all together. Doing a tubular front end set up at the same time so it should feel completely different. A stroked 351 may go in the coupe once the GT is all finished up.
