Well what I thought was going to be a good day ended 40 minutes after I awoke this morning. I am cruising about 25-30 MPH up my road to 32 this morning and someones dog came out in front of me. And yes I hit the dog. I know I am a grown man but it breaks my heart to see an animal whether wild or domestic get hurt. The dog took off somewhere between two houses and I couldn't find him. Not sure how bad he or she is hurt but from the sound of the impact I don't think the dog will survive for long without medical attention. Myself and another guy that was behind me when it happened looked for about 5-10 minutes and couldn't find the dog. So I drive back home to survey the damage to the car. I guess I got off pretty lucky by the looks of the damage. It appears that I will only need to get my bumper repainted. Of course the cruise in is this weekened and what good timing that was. I think I am just going to hit the bumper with some spray paint for now and roll it the way it is. My license plate frame got bent up but that can be manipulated back to its normal shape. The dog from what I seen of it was either a puppy or a small dog maybe 15-30 lbs and brown and white. I guess its a good thing it wasn't much larger or it would of been like hitting a deer. Hopefully someone will find the dog in their yard this morning and do what I would do if its still alive and take it to a vet and hope for the best. Damnit!!!!

damn that sucks Steve. You did the right thing though. Glad there isn't any more damage then what there is. Good thing for plastic.

Hope the dog makes it, where ever it went to. Most house dogs will run home after something like that. You did all you could. Sucks about the car though.

A few years ago I also thumped a dog that had gotten out of someones back yard. I actually drove over it with both right side wheels. When I got out the dog was laying in the street bleeding from both ears. The owner came out and took the dog to the vet(it was like 1am). After a few months sporting a lampshade the dog returned to normal. I didn't want to ask him for reimbursment to get the bumper cover resprayed since I know he spent plenty of money at the vet, So i had to pay for the bumper cover refinish myself.

Moral of the Story- keep control of your pets.
