i've got a 302 out of a crown vic that has flattop pistons, E7 heads, b303 cam, holly 600 on top, victor jr intake. The bottem end is a fresh rebuild well under 400 miles on it.

im thinking about putting it on the bottle for the end of the season.

my question is.... has anyone had any luck with a small hit of nitrous on a crown vic bottem end? im thinking about going with a 50-75 shot since its a cast bottem end.

im not worried about the motor really (becides selling it here this comming spring/earily summer).

im putting together a bored and possible stroked 460 BBF in the car. all im worried about it blowing it apart and haveing nothing but scrap metal.

thanks
Andrew

How does the CV short block differ from a Mustang block? Are they forged pistons or hypers? Are the crank and rods different?

Eh pretty sure its still a XXX block. Just depends on the year whether is hyperneutectic or factory forged.

...I think.

Detonation kills forged pistons although they can take a shit load more abuse than its cast counterpart. If its cast you can still spray it and it'll work, but be very conservative on the tune if you want it to live.

the block is an E7TE XXX block and its stock cast pistons, rods, crank

if i end up spraying it i'll prolly throw some 110 race gas in it and put it close to stock timing, or just pull timing back if i forget to pick up some race gas.

i'll start at a 50 hit and see how it runs for that, if it goes good i'll try and bump it to a 75 and pull out a degree or two and try it.

im goin to pick up the nitrous kit tomorrow and just spray it.

LNIB N.O.S. brand wet kit with a zex perimeter for a 4150 carb. cant beat the price of 200 w/ a full bottle

should be interesting:rockon:

If the tune is close it should live on a little shot. Just tune it by the directions and you will be fine.

directions on the kit? or other directions. the kit is used so i doubt ill have directions that normally come with a kit

check out their website or call them for the correct settings. I don't know what brand it is, but the nitrous express guys were always very helpful when my buddy would contact them.

Ive only got the 50hp jets in right now for my kit.I run 87 octane,10* timing, and two heat range colder plugs (when i use the bigger jets) in right now.
Also,i made the most power at 10.

i didnt have time to put the plate on or anything this week. im going to put the nitrous parts in the car here soon and get it ready to go into storage so i can pull the motor out and get it ready for its replacement.

i'm planning on ordering my bottom end parts here in the next week or 2 then getting everything else ready to put it in the car. then the expensive parts are going in (heads) with the edelbrock vic jr and i decided to go with a quick fuel 850

If the fuel is there it won't blow up. A wideband O2 is the way to take the guess work out of it...

this is true. im not worried about blowing it up really anymore

im ordering my stroker kit for my big block in about 2 weeks.

~13:1cr 557 forged rotating assembly. its my winter project. its sad that a 2200 stroker kit is pretty much the cheapest part of my motor build. the heads are goin to kill me $wise. then intake and carb and a cam then eventually im going to go on the bottle
