So I order all new one piece plugs off the internet to try to remedy the 2 peice plug bastard design that ford came up with ford the 3v 5.4 liter motor. I did everything as people posted to get these plugs out of the motor. Let it be warm but not hot, turn them about an 1/8 and put pb blaster in and let soak. So I let this sit about 5 hours on pb blaster soak and Ill be damned if 6 out of 8 of those fuggers didnt break off in the head. So now Im on the search for the removal tool. Ford knows this is a prob since Rotunda makes a tool for this. Which is a dealer service tool. So if you have a tool that you could lend me or help me and Ill kick some money and beer your way for the assistance that would be great. I found the tool on ebay prob gonna order it. But any F*CK Ford for the 2 peice plug design. End of rant thanx for listening. BRAD

I felt the same way when I helicoiled my modular head and replaced the exhaust studs that rusted off.

the mac man usually keeps them on their trucks too. That is a dumb design. Just seen it performed on 3 plugs in a 8000 mile 07gt

So here is the scoop after letting the f150 sit and a couple of beers and some phone calls. I got a hold of my snap on guy and I got 2 options. Option 1 about 80 dollars made by Lisle part number 65600 or the Rotunda tool made for Ford dealerships. Wont know the exact cost till morning. From what I have heard people get them all out or none out. So im in the middle of the road. Luckily my dad stepped up and said I can use his old man wagon till the f150 is back up on its own feet. Hopefully I wont have to pull the heads if I have to though its gonna get a set of cams put in it. So it could be a win win situation for me. The wife is gonna be pissed though. Ill keep you informed. BRAD

How much would the dealership have charged to change the plugs?

I wasent told to take them out. Just wanted to put 1 piece plugs in there. I have read on other forums the sooner the better. My truck only has 38000 on the ticker to I figured what the hell how hard can it be. Now I know it sucks. I have been on the phone today its not that big of a deal just need the tool to get the bottom of the plug out. The threads are not dicked up so Im not in that bad of shape.

Luckily Ford got their head out of their Asses and revised the 3v heads in late 07 to a 1 piece design from the factory. The downside, at least for the Mustang 3v's is that there are yet again no aftermarket lower heat range plugs out for the new heads. It is always something!!!
