First off, I've got an explorer motor. And the adapter that comes on those is not threaded on the outside. It has a giant hex nut on the outside so it will unthread from the block. Now the problem is, I need to thread a regular adapter on there with the external threads for a regular FL1A filter for a mustang... and Every adapter I try to remove just gets fubar'd

Is there a freaking trick to it or what? I was told to use a cold chisel, but that just damages the adapter, and there is not enough of it coming out of the block to get a good hold on it with vise-grips...

Is there a reason, that you can't run the proper filter?

The filter adapter on the explorer motor has internal threads, where as your regular filter adapter on a 302 has the externa threads for the filter to thread onto...

All you need is a big allen head wrench to take those out of another block and thread it into the explorer block.

OOhh... I could never tell that it had an allen head inside it. I will give that a shot! Thanks Kelly!
