Anyone running a 7 quart oil pan on your 5.0?
What brand are you running, Or what do you prefer?
I'm looking at a Canton 7 qt pan with pick up and dipstick kit.
Thanks Brian

I run a canton 7 qt aluminum pan and all the welds keep cracking and leaking . I wouldnt get the aluminum version if you go with canton.

I use a canton 7qt also. I typically only use 6 qts though. I have never had any issues with it.

Moroso 7qt. steel T-style pan.....I don't recommend the T-style. Makes getting to one of the starter bolts impossible. I'd use a regular deep style if I could do it over.

How is the ground clearance for both pans using the drop mounts? Sorry to hijack, but I figured this would be useful for Brian too :D

My engine is set back 1", and clear's my qa1 k member just fine. If you use 3/4" drop mounts, you should have plenty of clearance, I think there is about 1.5"'s between my k-member and pan. As far as ground clearance, I think the headers would be more of an issue. I will be running 3/4" drop mounts when my car goes back together, but since I haven't used them yet I'm not sure.

If you go with one of the aftermarkets, I recommend the steel pan over the aluminum ones. The tendancy to leak and crack just isn't worth the small amount of weight savings.
I run a Canton Road Race 7 qt. pan, makes getting to a couple of the bolts a bit more difficult, but I like the extra capacity and the anti-slosh sump benefits. I have had a sealing problem with this pan due to some bending along the rail, but a little hammering and some good sealant and it's fine.
Another thing that I highly reccomend if you think you may have an oiling problem or potential to starve the pump even for a brief moment is an Accusump accumulator (or similar unit). The basis is it keeps your oil pressure steady even with starvation. It also aids with supplying oil during engine starting keeping things alive until the pump pressurizes everything.
The drawbacks are that if you forget to shut it off you'll feed another quart into the pan and when you refire the pump has to lube the engine and fill the accumulator at the same time. (Shut-off valves either manual or auto fixes this problem). The other problem is if you rupture a line it will feed another quart onto the track - or down your arm.
Warning - be VERY cautious buying an Accusump second hand. If the person you bought it from blew the motor you might be getting a load of their crap when you fire it up. (But you can take them apart and clean them with some caution and effort).
