i have a set of twisted wedge heads that are milled 40 thousands. what is the biggest cam i can run with out fly cutting my pistons? will i have to change my pusrods? 6.70 pushrods come in the trickflow kit, but i got 6.65's for it since my heads were milled. could i still have ran the 6.70's and been ok? it has a trick flow stg 1 cam in right now and it's onlly good untill 5500 rpm's. my car really doesnt start pulling untill around 4000 rpms so i need something with more of a power range.

HUH? What intake are you running? With those heads and cam it should pull strong all the way through the range with the right intake.

Thats a pretty nice combo. That should pull from atleast 2500-5500ish. It should get stronger the closer it gets to 5500. Which it sounds like it is. When your floggin it you'll never be below 3500 usually anyways. You shouldn't have a problem running a stage 2 I wouldn't think. Call some places and tell them what your after and what you have. They usually know what you need.

I just want the car to pull until 6300 atleast.

You need to check the piston to vavle clearance to find the max size cam.
That stage 1 cam willl pull higher than 5500.
If you're not pulling till 4000 rpm, what gears do you have in your car? Are you using the factory tach?

:agree: One of the nice things about the twisted wedge heads was that you could run a pretty healthy cam with stock pistons. Once you start milling heads it becomes pretty crucial to start checking P2VC.

i put it on the dyno and it pulls to 5800. it made 306hp/319tq untuned on motor, so i guess thats decent.

I don't know this source, but it at least appears to be pretty thorough.

On a TW head that is milled 40 thou the stage II cam will not clear. You will need to fly cut the pistons to make that happen. If you are looking to turn more RPM on that stock short block I would look into a custom grind cam.

thanks for answering my question. what lift should i go with? really dont want to fly cut the pistons.

At this point you really need to look at duration as well as lift. .500" valve lift will be cutting it close if the cam has a good amount of duration. I would call Comp to see what they can grind you.

Call Cam motion, they do custom grinds, do not just pick a "bigger" cam, and just go off the fact that it clears pistons, pick a cam that works, a custom grinid will giive you best results. duration plays more of a role in clearance then lift.

i would but i dont know if i am going to stay with nitrous or go with a blower or a turbo. i change combo's quite a few times.
