Ok so I got the new set up for the 89 laying here and I am gathering up the last few parts I need to drop it in . Its going to be right around 400 rwhp and not sure what clutch set to put behind it. It is a street car that will barely see the track but will get plenty of aggressive driving. What do you guys recommend? I was thinking McCleod, but I am open to opinions. Thanks for everybodies help in advance!:bigthumb Also, The tranny is a T56 6 speed if it matters

If its not going to see a lot of hard launches on stickey tires then maybe a Spec Stage 2+. If its going to be on stickey tires then I would go up to the 3+.

I forgot about Spec. My buddies run those in their LS6 cars. I will look into those. Thanks for the reminder!

Street car....spec stage 2+ should work good.

Does the Stage 3 have good street manners? How does the pedal feel? I bet a Stage 2 would be just fine but once its in there I dont want to mess with it for awhile!

Best street clutch for 400hp in my opinion is a dual friction. I like spec 3's also, but the dual friction will handle 400 without breaking a sweat, and have a lighter pedal, and less grabby from a standing start. See if you can ride in or drive someone's car with each, then make up your own mind.

i have a ram 9000 series behind my tremec, great clutch ~ takes some effort to push down the pedal ...

The Spec Stage 3 is a little grabby when its new, but from what I understand thats common with puck style clutches. The 2+ and 3+ are both full disc and should help with that. THe pedal effort with my Spec Stage 3 is a non-issue. Its barely heavier than stock.

Hey Brian, what company has the best dual friction? I want a nice pedal because this car may go on the Power Tour this year!

Centerforce Dual Friction. Trust me, you will like it.

I drive a spec 3+ as often as I can in my convertible, which is quite frequently in the good weather months. The street manners of my 3+ are incredible. I have quite a few customers that have 3+ clutches and love them. If you don't put sticky tires on it, a dual friction is a decent clutch too.
