I wanna make it as clear as i can, that i don't feel that i'm a racist, and i don't feel that the frustration i feel is stemming from some kind of deep inner racist...maybe it is, i don't know but i have a strong conscious about trying to NOT be a racist. That said, i have to say i'm already sick of hearing about a black man being elected.
Right now there's some crap on the news about school kids singing songs about him, and they were saying one big change is how "African American" kids (still don't see how you're African if you've never been there) are seeing more hope for their future. They had these kids on there talking about how, now that Obama is president that the AA community can finally have opportunities just like everyone else.
HELLO!? WHO'S HOLDING YOU BACK TO BEGIN WITH?? WHITEY?
If there's a problem with the AA community, if there's something holding them back, could it have anything to do with the fact that the biggest majority of chrime and drug dealing in this country is from the AA community? Now, don't get me wrong, i know that sounds like i'm saying that blacks make crime and it's only blacks selling drugs...i know better than that. What i am saying is, take a drive through a black neighborhood and show me one group of blacks standing on the corner who are talking about their education and NOT dealing drugs or talking about it. Maybe i'm just a sheltered white kid, but i don't ever recall seeing large groups of blacks who are focused on education and making something out of themselves, while i HAVE seen large groups of them breaking laws and creating a bad name for their "community" and just generally trying to find the easy way through life instead of working for it. I give Obama huge props for getting where he is, but he worked for it...he didn't sell drugs to make a living, he went out and got a damn job and an education. If the AA community is going to "see hope" or some crap like that from this, maybe they should all realise that you get what you work for and if you wanna get out of the ghetto, you need to lose your ghetto ways.
I just feel torn on my feelings. My father was a racist and i hate that part of him. Every time someone says "******" i feel sick to my stomach. (don't EVEN get me started on rap music and the use of that word  ) I think these things and i feel guilty, i feel like there's a burning inside me that might really be racist and honestly it scares the shit out of me. I don't feel like i should feel this way, and i think there's a big problem when a white man has to feel bad because he has thoughts like this and feels like a racist or feels afraid to voice his opinion because he might be labeled as a racist. So what is it? Am i a closet racist? I know exactly what all this sounds like...these are all things that a white supremacist will tell you is wrong with the world, but i'm not a white supremacist. I don't feel like whites are any way better than anyone else, and i think slavery and the things that has happened to blacks in our history is a disgusting shame. It's not like i feel hostility towards "blacks", i just feel confused and honestly pissed off, and it's been this way since WAY before anyone had even heard Obama's name.
I feel like basically, if you boil it all down to a simple statement or phrase, our country isn't working towards racial equality, we're working towards a strange reality where everyone has confused racial equality with whites feeling guilty for something (slavery/oppression) that was done 100+ years ago, and there's no end to what we'll do to "make it right". There won't ever be a point where anyone can say "ok, we're past racism, we're past slavery, there's no racial debt to be paid" and people can truly put aside color and be equal. People want equality, people want what King said "the day not of the black man, not of the white man, but the day of men as men", yet all you hear is blacks celebrating and tooting their horns because a black man finally made it. That to me is pointing out race, not taking strides to eliminating the focus on race.
There's a song that really sums this all up, by a little punk band called Minor Threat, call Guilty of Being White:
I'm sorry
For something I didn't do
Lynched somebody
But I don't know who
You blame me for slavery
A hundred years before I was born
Guilty of being white
I'm a convict
Of a racist crime
I've only served
19 years of my time
Guilty of being white
Basically, what REALLY pisses me off, is the thought of what this country is going to be like when my son is old enough to deal with this crap. I wonder if he's ever going to live in a country where men are men (women are women too..lol) and it's just as ok for a white man to be proud of his culture as it is for a black man to be proud of his, and a man (or woman) can be elected as the president or whatever without the whole world focusing on his race. I'm thinking that since it's taken 100+ years to get here, that it probably won't happen in his lifetime.
What's REALLY scarey is what's going to happen if Obama fails....if he ends up being a really terrible president, the real racists are going to blame his race for it, and then the shit is really gonna get ugly.

I still feel like i didn't word any of that well enough to explain what i'm feeling.
I WANT equality....i want people to let racial differences go. But at the same time, i don't see that happening. You can't turn on the TV and watch the news right now without being hit in the face with it. You can't succeed as a race without pointing out racial differences. You can't be proud of your "people" no matter what race you are without being "racist". If the blacks truly want equality, then stop getting on TV and talking about your race. Just let "this man" be president and shut up about his race.

Well the beauty of Obama being elected is that now they have no more excuses. In a year they may finally realize that their lives are exactly the same as they have always been. I guess then they will blame it on the fact that Obama is half white and that is why their lot in life in not any better. Also for all the Dems this is their time, they also can no longer place the blame on anyone else. It is put up or shut up time. They have exactly what they want now lets see what they do with it.

It doesn't take a social worker to read your rant and see that you are very RACIST. It bothers you that a Black Man got voted into the country's highest office, while you still live in your Racist trailer park (Home, Apartment, what ever...)
The reason all those on TV are happy is because they and many others had to endear oppression. Maybe not everyone, but surely there mothers, fathers, grand parents and so forth. Can you leave your Whitey hatred for just one second and try to see things through there eyes??? Provably not.....But other like myself can, and I feel happy for them, for myself and for living at a time when MOST of the country is able to look at someone and not see Black, White, Yellow or green, just skin, the skin of another person. I hope you learn to change your ways, but judging from your post, you most likely won't. It's a shame, I hope your children don't grow-up to continue the Racist tradition that you and your farther still share. Why is it that the color of ones skin has to matter??? I feel bad for ALL the kids that grow up in an environment where they are taught to HATE someone....The police, the blacks, the whites, the illegals etc etc. Maybe one day in our lifetime we will see that abolished. Till that day, people should quit judging other people.

Yknot, where did that come from??!!?? WTF....David is throwing his heart felt emotions out there about NOT being racist but seeing it EVERYWHERE!!! I see it everywhere too. Not in hushed conversations in a bar but on CNN, NBC, CBS etc etc. Like what has been said in this thread, there are no excuses now. Obama was elected by the majority of AMERICANS!!!! Not by the blacks alone, not by the minorities alone but by a Majority of Americans. It is going to be very interesting how it all works out in 4 years. Will everyone be better off than they are now, who knows. But you are going to have to ask yourself that question 4 years from now and be honest about it. I am reserving my judgement till then. Time will tell.

I honestly think that he doesn't want to be a racist, but yet he is recognizing racist feelings. He is trying to better himself and is being honest about it. So that in my opinion makes you NOT a racist; you know there is a problem and you are trying to change. I don't know how old he is, but I hate to say it there are as many whites as blacks selling drugs; and almost none of the kids today my age group included cares about their education. We have grown up in a lifestyle that either our parents will bail us out or there is welfare. I grew up in West Chester and I saw just as much drugs and violence there compared to where I live now, Cincinnati Colerain.
And using the N word in rap songs... what's the big deal that is between black people it is black music. Us white people call each other Crackers/rednecks all time... so why is it ok for us and not them.
I am not racist. Every race is the same.... two legs, arms, feet, one head and one brain. Yes statistically, blacks commit more crime, but look at their upbringing. If you are brought up in a household or neighborhood where this happens most likely that's what they will be like.... Nobody, white black Indian et al., will get better until the communities get better and when kids quit having kids....
I honestly think that with time everything will get better, there aren't many resources for the poor to busy themselves and kids learn by example. Change doesn't happen overnight it happens over generations. People won't change unless they want too or until they are raise to know that everyone is equal....

Not to worry, the drive-by media, the one's who put him into office in the first place have already started to pick him apart. I do know what your talking about everyone making such a big deal out of it. It's cult like. I've never heard of that sort of reaction to a candidate before. I'm glad we've gotten to the point where a black man can be elected into office, we could have very well had a women elected too. That being said, the country has come a long long way.
Most everyone I've talked to, didn't vote for Obama, it had nothing to do with his skin color and everything to do with his policies. They're down right scary.

No one with any sense can tell you your a racist by this post. Your the only who really knows how you feel. People throw the term racist around all the time, anytime it's convenient to do so. There is a double standard that isn't going to go away because everyone is so politically correct and not wanting to offend anyone else. In my opinion, any organization that portrays being for blacks is truly racist. Here's a great example of what I'm talking about.

I guess i invited this type of response, so it's my job to tolerate and explain rather than defend myself and lash back at you with the same ignorance that you've lashed out to me with. These are simple inner feelings, nothing that i have ever expressed towards ANYONE before this very post, not even to my family. I'm the guy who stands up and tells people to lay off when they use the N word, and i'm the guy who is most likely to fight FOR the minority, not against them.
However, i do believe that you get what you work for, and sitting back and saying "the man" is holding you back is weak, no matter what race you are. Now like someone else said, "the man" is their same race, so that shouldn't be an issue any longer. I know personally, being white hasn't earned me jack shit in my life and i'm just as poor as anyone else of whatever race.
As for my children growing up racist...you're treading on thin ice there pal...this isn't about my kids, it's about me. I'll ask you nicely to leave them out of this discussion from this point out.
Lastly, i think you need to read some key points in my post, about how i DON'T feel violent against blacks (or any race for that matter) and how i AM happy for Obama, i just don't see how true equality is ever going to happen when either side feels like they've won when their man is at the controls....that shows there's a competition and there always will be.

And using the N word in rap songs... what's the big deal that is between black people it is black music. Us white people call each other Crackers/rednecks all time... so why is it ok for us and not them.
The problem is that good men like King gave his life fighting to end the use of the same words that his forefathers were abused with. Yet now people throw it around in gest like it's a buddy-buddy word. If i were black and my grand parents were oppressed with a word, i sure as hell wouldn't be throwing it around at my friends and using it in songs. I just think it's disrespectful to their forefathers.

Its not the fact that he's black but the fact that the Democrats are taking over. President, House, etc. Isn't it true the last time the Democrats were in charge it was during the 30's with the Great Depression?!? I certainly hope that doesn't happen!

Naomi,
Herbert Hoover was president from 28-32 and Roosevelt took over from then until he died in 45. I don't know the makeup of Congress.
Untamed,
The current economic crises was actually started during the Clinton administration. First, the law that was passed to give everybody a house loan and then during the last session of the last day of Congress in 2000 a measure was passed to allow betting(bucket shops) again.
60 minutes did a wonderful job of explaining the Wall Street crash and I for the first time understand how it happened. Why isn’t America calling for the heads of our Congress, as well as these investors. Let’s see can I get this right.
The big crash we had that lead to America’s GREAT DEPRESSION was something going on in America called Bucket Shops. These are brokerage firms that allows side bets on the performance of the US mortgage markets. This allowed you to wager on the financial outcome without ever having to actually buy stocks, bonds or mortgages. It’s a form of legalized gambling, which was outlawed after the great depression.
Just before the Clinton administration left office a bill was put through which lifted the ban of this form of gambling for the mortgage companies. They felt at the time with the advice of Greenspan that the agencies were big enough men to do the right thing and they did not need to be monitored
So began legalized bookies for the financial world by betting on whether interest rates would go up or down, causing trillions of dollars in side bets on mortgage securities. We now have something called credit default swaps, which is private insurance contracts that paid off if the investment went bad. You didn’t even have to own the stocks to collect the insurance. In reality you’re just placing a bet to buy insurance without actually owning the stock or buying the insurance. So in turn the big banks and mortgage companies did not have to set aside money to cover potential losses and pay off the bets .So the betting began for several years on whether the people would default on their mortgages, and this idea went around the world..
Our market began to seize up and everyone involved wanted to be paid off on their credit default swaps, but there was no money because none had been set aside for this wild adventure, thus causing Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers and the holding company called AIG to falter... They had all made more bets than they could pay off so JP Morgan took Bear Stearns for pennies on the dollar. Lehman Brothers was allowed to bankrupt and AIG was bailed out for 123 billion dollars thanks to congress and our country taxpayers.
But that was just the beginning as we all have learned in the last two months. We also had to pass the 700 billion dollars (and climbing) package to starve off a depression, which we aren’t sure of yet..
There are plenty of heads that should roll on this decision and one I have in mind to start with with is Paulson since he has been involved in this since 2004.

NAACP & SECE Blame Hurricanes on Bush.
Will the real nut please crack. - Susan Jones reports for CNSNews.com:
Because President George W. Bush has "ignored the threat of global warming," Floridians can expect to be hit by increasingly destructive hurricanes, a new billboard campaign says.
The billboards, going up along Interstate 4 between Tampa and Orlando -- a week before the presidential election -- read, "Global warming equals worse hurricanes. George Bush just doesn't get it." The billboards show a photo of a hurricane swirling toward Florida.
The campaign is co-sponsored by Scientists and Engineers for Change and Environment2004. The NAACP National Voter Fund is also involved in the effort to blame Bush for ignoring global warming.
I'm reminded of my past post: Hurricanes God's Punishment for 2000 Election?!.
In it I ranted about a man from San Francisco who made the assertion that Florida was being punished by God because of electing Bush in 2000. I guess his refrain is being taken up by other leftists."

Same here...half my family is Irish, the other half is Cherokee indian, so i've got discrimination and oppresion coverd on both halfs of the family. I just don't buy it that blacks are as descriminated against in today's age as they say they are. I work and have worked with plenty of blacks, and they don't seem to have any harder of a job getting employment or getting by than me or anyone else. Obviously "the man" didn't hold Obama back. In '58, yeah blacks were oppressed. In '08, get rid of the hood mentality, stop warshipping rappers who preach about selling drugs and gang bangin to get by, get an education, get a job, and stop blaming other people (and races) for your problems. It's as simple as that, no racism necessary. That's ultimately what i think i'm trying to convey, but aparently i failed. If they really think that a black president is going to change any of that, then they have a huge surprise coming.

you no it soo sad when you claim not to be a racist, but then point out all the attributes of a culture thata racist focusses on.this election has shown truly how far this nation has progressed in the past 40 yrs,but at the same time this forum has also shown that there still are a bunch of closet hate mongers still left,as time has show we will weed you out also,it wont take no more than a generation or two and the playing feild will truly be level for not blacks and whites ,but all AMERICANS.I could also sit here and vent about all the drug dealing, violance, atributed to the white race in the news but that would not be productive,or the FACT that in warren, butler, hamilton, clinton counties the biggest drain on the social welfare system is from the white race(yes there are more whites on welfare in each of these counties than blacks.)but again that wont help either.so my best hope is that somehow someway the best in each of you closet racist will surface, but if that fails as this election again showed you are in the minority and soon will be arradicated.

Oh yeah I know all that. That law is from way way back. My mother is always talking about it. I'm also part Cherokee from her side. I've tried to explain to her the prejudice against blacks is the same shown against our own ancestors. Tell you what I might buy my granddaughter a shirt with a big ass quarter on it....
Dude you don't know me so make judgments. If it hurts your feelings that I think your fucking crying over shit that for the most part doesn't exist anymore then too bad. Hell my ancestors were slaughtered and I don't cry about that. I don't see the Irish still crying nor the Italians. That's my point. BTW, I'm part Irish as well. YOU need to get the fucking chip off your shoulder and not worry about what other people think. What matters is what YOU think about yourself. If people are so shallow to think skin color is the one and only judgment of a man than that's their problem.
I think if you stop actively looking for racism then you probably wouldn't find it.

I think some of you are assuming that i'm placing blame on just blacks and not on anyone else. I grew up surrounded by white trash, so i'm not saying the blacks are the only people with problems, i'm simply saying that opportunity is out there for EVERYONE, so don't sit back and blame another race or think that just because the president is your race that now all of a sudden the doors are gonna open for you and life is gonna be handed to you on a silver platter.
If that makes me racist, then shit i guess i'm a racist. It wouldn't be any different if the next president is white and i said "finally, now a white guy is back in office and i can get a job again". That's exactly what i'm seeing on TV, so if that makes ME a racist, how is it any different than what's happening right now?
As for me sharing views with racists...you only think that because you only see what i type, not who i am or the rest of my views on things, and you're picking apart my posts and weeding out the most negative sounding parts. On one hand, a white supremacist will say it's ok to be proud of your white haritage, and i don't see any reason why that's wrong. I'm proud of my ancestry, and you can't tell me that makes me a racist. But, a white supremacist will also say that whites are superior over other racists, which is exactly what separates me from them because i don't see any race as superior over any other. Am i proud that somewhere along the lines, some of my ancesters had slaves? HELL no, like i said previously, that's a terrible thing and i'm totally against it. Like the song lyrics i posted...i didn't have slaves, so don't blame me for it and don't blame "the man" for holding you back.

I totally agree...I'll even go on the record and say there's more dead beat whites in this country than anyone else. The difference is, they're not sitting back blaming another race or "the man" for keeping them poor and keeping them unemployed. This is the land of opportunity.
How many of you have been to a doctors office where the doctor was Indian? The man sure as hell didn't hold him back from making over 6 figures a year as a doctor did he? I guess i'm supposed to believe that the man is only holding back blacks and not other races? Now how many of you have been to a gas station and seen the same Indian running a cash register? What's the difference? One guy went to school and put in more work to be a doctor while the other guy didn't. Is the gas station guy sitting around blaming whitey?
Right now, i work at Walmart making shit money. I worked at a factory making $16 an hour and got laid off. Is it going to be ok for me to sit back and blame Obama (who i know isn't the problem) because i don't make the money i wanna make? Can i blame "the man" because i don't make more? I didn't go to college, i didn't get that education, so i scrape by. It's that simple. Opportunity was out there for me just like it is everyone in every inner city out there...you choose to take it or you choose not to. There's no racist oppressor out there holding anyone back.

Why can't you just judge them by there merits??,,?/
Lets see...where do i start with this one.
The reason all those on TV are happy is because they and many others had to endear oppression. Maybe not everyone, but surely there mothers, fathers, grand parents and so forth.
You are absolutely right, and i'm not saying they're wrong for feeling happy. They are wrong however, for saying they're gonna have opportunity now just because a black man is in office. How is THAT not racist? Saying they'll have opportunity now is just another way of saying that all this time, a white man in office has held them back. That, is racist.
Can you leave your Whitey hatred for just one second and try to see things through there eyes???
LOL, i don't have "whitey hatred". I have "whitey frustration" because i'm just sick of hearing about the man holding people down. It's BS.
But other like myself can, and I feel happy for them, for myself and for living at a time when MOST of the country is able to look at someone and not see Black, White, Yellow or green, just skin, the skin of another person.
You're either nieve or blind if you think the rest of the country isn't seeing color. Turn on the TV, that's ALL they're seeing. How many times do you need to hear about Obama making history as the first black president to realize how much people are focusing on color? If you're not, then you may be the ONLY person who isn't. This whole election has had a race undertone to it from day one, even before he beat out Hillary.
I hope you learn to change your ways, but judging from your post, you most likely won't. It's a shame, I hope your children don't grow-up to continue the Racist tradition that you and your farther still share. Why is it that the color of ones skin has to matter??? Why can't you just judge them by there merits??
For starters, i don't have any ways that need changed. I'd risk my life to save a black man just as quick as i would a white man. My children will simply be raised with the mentality that NOBODY is holding them back except themselves. If they want it, they'll have to work for it. As for my father, he's a POS and i haven't seen him since i was about 11. He and i have just about nothing in common. Lastly, if the color of their skin didn't matter, why would all the people you mentioned be so happy? I don't see anyone judging Obama on his merits, i see EVERYONE judging him by his color...just turn on the TV and you can't miss it.
I don't think i've ever once put down Obama in any of this crap, and i'm still not. I don't think i would've voted for him, but that's because i don't agree with his views and the way he wants to run the country. The big problem is that i can't oppose him without being called a racist...THAT is racism in its purest, ugliest form.

Yeah, you nailed it. I'm some kind of racist biggot and you somehow learned that all from one thread on the internet. You don't know how many black friends i have, that i once dated a black girl in school, or anything other than what you've read here. How could you possibly come to any other conclusion? I guess it's difficult to debate against my side without simply saying i'm a racist, since you have nothing of truth to argue against it with. It's sort of like arguing religion and the only answer they can give is "the lord works in mysterious ways".
This all just supports everything i've said in this thread. Political correctness or whatever you wanna call it has made the world so that a white person can't say anything that opposes another race without being branded as a racist, even if he's the furthest thing from it, yet others can sit back and cry foul and blame "whitey" for all their problems and nobody raises an eyebrow. This is pretty much exactly how i expected this thread to pan out.

I don't want the government or president to do anything for me other than keep me safe. I can provide everything else for myself.
:)
Gee that check was so nice of him. What a JOKE. He did that cuz he had things so screwed up already that he was trying to fix what he odviously COULDN'T!! I am very thankful to the (soldiers) that risk their lives everyday to keep me safe. All you BOO WHOOERS need to get over it. Thank GOD Bush is done and there is nothing that makes me and the MAJORITY of the country happier. Maybe now we can have a President that does not look like an IDIOT every time he opens his mouth. He fumbles his words and sounds like a real jackass half of the time. GOOD RIDDENS BUSH!!!!

It didn't fix anything. This country is just as far if not more in debt. Once again you can't change what the MAJORITY voted for.:lol::tongue2:

I'm done with this topic. Some of you are salty because your vote obviously did not matter. Now it is time to deal with it. Just sit back and watch what happens. Give him a chance, he just may shock you all.

I find it a little bit Ironic that you believe GWB is so bad, but when Obama suggests the very same thing (economic stimulus) it's praised. Obamania is a sicknes..lol. See a Dr. quick, you got it! :booty:

Bush did nothing for you??
What exactly do you call keeping your butt safe??
What is it you would like our government to do for you??

im with you on this dssking
im not hanging from bush's nuts by anymeans...but i'd vote him back in anyday over clinton...or the scary thought of morons like kerry or gore. time will tell with obama...i'm not holding my breath for anything spectacular by anymeans.... i guess he will make progress overseas become more & more obsolete...and we will experience another terrorist attack on our nation. he will probably also f**k all of us on taxes...income...capital gains ..mostly...tighten our gun rights & other rights like pushing general aviation user fees for pilots like myself... increase handouts to the low rents out there..f**k our healthcare system all up...& people will die waiting on basic tests and treatments scheduled 4 months out.
at least bush has the balls to stand up for his beliefs no matter what half the people think
people forget that our nations spends billions per year on military training exercises whether we are at war or not...
i get sick of hearing people say bush is the only reason for our huge mess....there are many many people / reasons responsible for our situation right now beyond bush...
great news though...the dems have all the power now & no excuse ....were all gonna be saved! ..yeah right...

I think everyone in the nation should have to display who they voted for on the license plate of their car & must keep it affixed for all 4 years...
that way we can see who is holding their head up high or too embarrassed to look out the window at a fellow driver at a stop light..
that would be awesome...wait a min...forget that idea...that wouldn't work because any car parked downtown with a mccain sticker would get stereos ganked / keyed / & left on blocks..;)...shit...

i think only people qualified to receive social security at the time of an election should be qualified to vote!
wonder what would be the outcome of this last election if you ommitted any votes by people who fall into that category
