I have a dss 306 short block with explorer gt-40 heads, holley system max intake,60lb injectors and a 70mm throttle body. I am planning on running a turbo set up on it. I am looking at running a precision pt88 turbo with a tial 46mm blowoff valve and a tial 50mm wastegate. Will this work or is it to big for what i got and what is the upside and downside of this combo? Can anybody help?

Sounds like it is enough to split the block, but I will let Rick or Bill comment.

Is it mainly going to be a street car or a drag car?

A pt88 is an 8 second turbo, with the right housing it'll work fine on a small motor, but you had better have an aftermarket block, a stock one won't get anywhere close to holding all that power. It sounds like a broken record, but a plain ole Master Power 70mm turbo will make killer power and they're pretty damn reliable too. Check out the turboforums.com and read, read and read some more. Any questions you have, will have been asked and answered in 300 different directions.
The search function is your friend and they'll tell you the same.;)

To put it in perspective, Rick has a 383 Cu. In. engine, with a 80mm turbo, and it will be 8 sec. capable.

its mainly a street car and might go a couple of times a year to the track

You don't want or need a PT88 then. Seriously, check out the MP70, they're 9-10 second daily driver turbos.

Its still a stock block and has all the same weaknesses. Check out Turbodaves.com
Thats where I got my head unit from and he's a real good guy too. Actually I didn't see masterpower units on his website, another vendor to check out is vsracing.com

if it is mainly a street car you really don't need the 88mm. I started off with a precision 67mm and it was a fun street car with the factory block. And with the fuel system you are currently running a turbo of that size will be more than enough to keep you busy for a while....

What tuning software are you going to use?

Pardon the interuption guys...but I am really interested in putting a turbo on a 331 in my 84 GT to be mainly street driven, but it will need to be a blow through/carburetor set up. Would the turboforums.com be a good source for blow through turbo information? Anyone local have any expertise on tuning a blow through set up?
Thanks...

You wont find a better place for blowthru info. Those guys are crazy about their carbs! Lots of guys purchase them from CSU or C&S.
