I got it last Wednesday. I am now in the midst of selling the 'stang and all the parts that I have in order to buy some goodies for the Z28. My plans are to run a high 11 second ET and keep it daily driveable. Let me know what you think.

Pics and the video...

Nice buy! I'm not a big fan of the factory ground effects but they don't look too bad in red. Auto or 6-speed car? What year? Any mods?

You want 11s naturally aspirated? Cake. You can do it without ever pulling the valve covers off and keep it as driveable as stock....because it'll be damn near stock. I can help you set it up.

Nice ride. If you really want to go fast, put a 4 valve 5.4 with a kenne-bell on it under the hood. Really freak your friends out. LOL

It's an 2000 Z28 with an A4 and 66k miles. The only mods the car has is a loudmouth 2 exhaust and a whisper lid. In a few months I'm going to add full lenght headers, ORY and an LS6 intake. From there I'll see how it runs and will more than likely get a stall.

If you're going with mild steel headers, get the Jet Hots. They're basically Hookers with a better coating and I think they're cheaper than the Hookers. None of the other coatings last for more than a few months of street driving around here. If you really want to do it right, go with the Kooks. They're more expensive, but Kooks by far have some of the best headers on the market for these cars and once they're in you'll never have to mess with them again.

If you want to stick with a stock style intake, jump to the F.A.S.T. It's more expensive, but it's worth it if you don't like the buy parts twice. The LS6 may gain a few HP, but even at the bolt-on stage it leaves some power and torque on the table. Once you've gone past the bolt-on stage you've really out grown what the LS6 manifold can do.

For a torque converter, look right past the Yank and Vigilante junk. Any off-the-shelf torque converter with a part number on it will be garbage. A lot of guys will swear by them because they haven't tried a properly built converter. Try Andre at Edge Racing Converters. He'll build one for your specific car for less than any of the off-the-shelf converters out there and it will perform way better. Customer service is very personal and top notch. Also, before you install a smaller converter...make sure the PWM in your trans is disabled, the clutch will not lock properly with this feature and you'll kill the clutch.

The best advice I can give you is to NOT pay attention to the crap you read on LS1tech.com or especially LS1.com. Lots of sheeple over their giving bad advice because they read it somewhere else from some other uninformed idiot. You also have a lot of guys that can't even install an air filter that will tell you all about how to build an engine :screwy:

Cool, maybe we can have an LS1 section on our stang site. Post all your progress in the project section. Thats what stang sites are for right? Just kidding........................................... ..no seriously though.

Thanks! What other boards do you recommend? I looked into getting a FAST intake but they're 3x what I would pay for an LS6. I figure that I'll get an LS6 and once I move past the bolt on stage, I'll sell the intake for about what I paid for it and then get a FAST.

There's a member on LS1tech that is selling a used set of Kook headers that I'm trying to buy... just need a little more money.

I would stick with the LS1 intake until you can afford the FAST setup. No sense in doing it twice and the few HP gain really isn't worth the effort. You'll be extremely lucky to get your money back out of an LS6 unless you have well under $200 into it. There's simply no demand for them. Make sure you check out the user you're buying headers from on Tech. There are a lot of great sellers over there, and they do their best to weed out the scammers but it's hard to keep up with all of them these days.

Unfortunately I don't think there are any really good national boards for the F-bodies or LS powered cars. LS1.com is completely and utterly useless. LS1Tech does have some good tech info, but you have to know what you're looking at and who is posting it to find the good stuff.

Register over on the NKYFBA (http://nkyfba.homeip.net/register.php?referrerid=82). It's the local F-body group. You can find some good information over there if you ask. There are also plenty of people willing to lend a hand if you need it. You can always find parts for sale as well.
