I'm in the market for a supercharger. not looking to do anything extreme since this car spends most of its time on the street and the motor is all stock. its 95gt with a 302 and a 5-speed. Ive seen the kits from vortech and procharger but all of those seem to include an intercooler and range over the 3grand mark. I'm not looking to spend quite that much and was wondering whats the best option for me. I was looking at the 6 and 9 psi systems.

Would the 9 psi be too much boost on my stock internals? I think an intercooler is as great as the next guy but do i really NEED this? i dont plan on building a race motor with this blower.

Either way i plan on upgrading the fuel system to compensate for the added boost.

Also i found some powerdyne systems online but cant seem to find anyone selling them new? are these junk? My car is certainly not junk so i dont wanna bolt junk to it if these are in fact junk.

My ideal system is a procharger just because they are self contained and dont have to run seperate oil lines to them where as at least from what ive been reading it seems like the rest you do but i could be wrong. Also these seem to be pretty well known and trusted.

I have alot of experience with building cars and engines but this will be my first experience with playing with any kind of boost so any input is greatly appreciated because im kind of a dummy when it comes to this.

I want a bolt on kit and i really dont wanna go turbo right now but what is my best option and whats the least expensive way to go?

thanks,
-Justin

Just an fyi...If you're buying new, I think both Vortech and Paxton have a $250.00 rebate if you buy before the end of the year.

Paxton makes a self contained unit with no oil lines for fox bodies, you might be able to adapt it to an SN-95. I think it runs about $2,100.00. I believe Paxton and Vortech are the same company now.

I say Paxton Novi 2000. RScoupe put one on a guy's SN95 vert a while back and it was very impressive, especially for a mostly stock car.

+1 for the Novi 2000. I ran one for several years, loved it. Made 512/444.

Couple different evolutions I went through.

Walter, yeah i remember seeing your blower setup it was very wicked looking but your also packing a 347 all forged. I'm sporting a 302 bone stock. So what can i realistically run without having to pull the motor?

I guess i never really considered a paxton. Are any of you guys running an intercooler?

What are prices like for these kits?

No 347 here. 306 pal. I paid 1999 thru musclemotors, base kit no fuel stuff.

I have a Novi 2000 on my 94. It made 525 and 511 running out of fuel and a popped head gasget. Its a great blower for the money. Im building fuel system now to try to get her a bit more power. These numbers were with 12 degrees of timing and 11 PSI.

I recommend the Novi 2k. The procharger kits are usually my first choice but on the SN95's they use the stock belt to run them and slip badly in boost. I sell Procharger, Paxton, Vortech, Powerdyne, KenneBell and Hellion turbo kits, so if you want to sit down and discuss a route, I will be happy to talk to you about it. I also will give you the SBZ pricing so you should be happy with your end results. The novi kits are not intercooled in base form.

I have a Novi 2000 on my 2002 GT and it responds real good. The other route that is becoming popular is going to a turbo. They are getting real good gains out of it.

You make want to speak to Bill at Tork Tech first. He is local so you could probably go to his shop and check it all out.
He is on cook road in Milford on the 28 end in the set of business there. Almost across from tresters.

From Personal Experience, Don't go with Procharger on a SN-95,I had a D!-sc on my 94. LIke RS coupe said belt issues, Had a turbo too much heat, Trust me go with a simple reliable route and good power. Vortech, paxton, Or KENNEBELL. BTW Kennebell makes the most torque under 3500rpms.

I'll have to take you up on that offer, yeah i guess i really just dont know alot of the differences between them since im pretty new to this whole thing but i would like to discuss my options since i cant just put down that much money without knowing all the options.

I would get an S trim. Their great blowers, and have 9 second capabilities.

I agree the s trim with a charge air cooler makes killer power. I can get you a deal on one also

We ran a self contained Paxton Novi 1200 (same as Vortec S-trim) on our NMRA R/S car. Great supercharger and great company to deal with! You cannot beat the reliability of a Vortec or Paxton and the new self contained unit made as much or more power than the oil return style (we tested them all). I'm sure the Novi 1000 will make as much power as you want for now. The 2000 is an 8 second capable blower.
