we had an 86 f350 dually on the farm. no matter what we did we could not kill it. not the worlds fastest truck but it would pull ANYTHING i could hook to it. respectable fuel economy both with and without a load. and super easy to work on. batteries and a glow plug relay were the hardest. i rebuilt the starter once because i was a cheap azz, and for some reason the battery cable that connected the batteries and the starter relay went bad and i had to replace it. i would own another in a moment.

I have a 1986 F350. Other than the injector pump going out twice and a cracked head, with normal maintenance it just keeps on going.. The body rots off long before the engine will ever give up. It's a pig, but it will pull over a house.

If you keep an eye on Craigslist, there is some one selling an older squared f350 thats been swapped to a 7.3L with a 4 speed. And its pretty cheap to.
