ok, i have a 88 gt and im thinking of trying to use the body because it would be cheaper but the front core support, rear bumper support and strut towers are rusted pretty bad. also has rusted floor boards but those arnt that bad. should i save my frustration and just buy a new body? the strut towers scare me the most so idk what to do.

If it were me, I'd start with a cleaner car. A lot of times you can find a clean 4 cylinder to swap everything into. That much rust is just going to be a headache in the long run.

Thats just what you can see to. someone had a build on here and they thought they had it all then found even more, but took care of it... car is turning out sweet too. If you are VERY good at body work try it out, if not cut loses and get 4cyl body and swap over.

My experience is the rust us a lot deeper than it appears. It's possible to fix, but not worth it, for the price of clean 4cyl cars.

This answer comes from figuring this out the hard way.

I have a notch with about 90% of the stuff to put it together.

I had a good time welding up Decker's Coupe! :bigthumb

I've patched a few holes in my '88 as well... along with putting a roof on it. Some say it wasn't worth it, but I say it is.

Exactly! There is a lot more to the rust than what you see on the outside. I will pay extra to find a car that doesn't have any rust.

The body is flawless, it does not have the welds on or the cowl hood, I do have a 4 inch hood for it though

Yeah, my car was pretty bad. If I had known about how deep the rust was, i wouldn't have bought it. I had to cut out my front frame rails and replace them with 2"x3" rec tube. Jesse welded it all together or me. It is coming together now but the frame rail and strut tower thing sucked.

Rust is like cockroaches, where there's one, theres more. If it has rust issues like that which you can see, I thjink I'd find another body.
