head question

I've got a set of heads from a friend of mine that he told me were GT-40 heads. The problem is, is I don't see any of the identification marks. I ran some of the numbers on the internet and its saying that their 351w heads. but i want to be sure.

351w heads used bigger head bolts. That looks like a 69 302 head.

iirc, GT-40 heads are stamped "GT" near the head bolt bosses on the exhaust side.

theres a big E cast between the rocker studs if that means anything.

does anyone know the difference between these and E7TE's?

Those are not E7's or GT40's. E7's have "E7TE" cast on the bottom about where that 302 69 marking is. GT40s have 3 vertical bars on the ends of them. GT40p's have 4 vertical bars one the ends and have GT40P by the rockers. I dont know much about older heads but those seem to be from 69. I'd imagine they flow better than E7's and would do pretty well with some port work

i know how to distinguish between the GT40's im just not sure what these are.

i've got E7TE's on my 302 now and im looking to upgrade

Those are 1969 302 heads.

so are they 351w heads or 302 heads?

i dont know wheither or not to pick them up for a cheap price or what if it'll be worth anything to make power on or just go with a different head

The 351 head bolt holes will be larger diameter, than 302s.
