4x4 problems

Here is what I got... I have a 98 F-250 Auto with on the fly 4x4. I used the 4x4 about 3 months ago and it worked like a charm. I tried to use it this morning and it engages and sounds like metal on metal grinding. I disengaged and right back into 2x4. Has anyone else ran into this problem? I was possibly thinkin that it may me the Auto Hubs?? Any help would be great. Bill

My dad has an 02 f250 and his was doin the same thing.He took it to big georges in milford and the hubs were froze up on it.replaced the hubs and works fine now.

200 bux new.but he put manual bak n they wanted 800 for the auto lock hubs.

I've changed out hubs in an 95.....If I can do it brother, you can do it. Promise haha.

Took it to my buddy and he said it is not the hubs. he said it seems to be a vacume problem. the 4x4 is just not engaging. he is takin it to his shop to fix it. he said he wont even charge me. Thanks for the info guys..

That rocks! I had a similar issue on my Ranger, but a bad connection on the 4x4 ecu was causing my issues. Good looking out on your buddies part, thank god for good friends huh...

Could be the hub seals for the auto hubs leaking vaccum. Warn manual hubs are about $100 at Napa.

I hate it when that goes out, very expensive lmao. I had a flux capaciter go out on my moped once, and it cost more than the moped did lol...:tard:
