Ok I order a gyro. Then the girl making it puts the sauce on the pita bread. Well, she gets a little sauce on her thumb then licks it off and proceeds to make my sandwich. Seriously, she put the meat on the sandwich with the same hand and folded the sandwich up. I of course got my money back and the girl got her ass chewed. That seriously disgusted me and the place was packed so everyone heard and i think a bunch of people walked out after. Whats with places like this it really makes you wonder what goes on in the kitchen at sit down restaraunts.

I had a similar circumstance when I lived in Clifton. There used be a Mcdonalds next to the old Primetime night club on Calhoun. Me and my Girlfriend went there one day for lunch. As I am standing in line I look back at the grill and observe an employee flipping meat over on a grill.... with his bare fingers..... licking his thumb and index fingers inbetween each patty. I am next line and as we are called to the counter I make a huge deal about it. The manager approached me and said (insert ghetto tone here) "the germs be cooked of by da heat," when I said it was still nasty, against health department rules and that all the meat should be disposed of she stated "well you aint gottsta eat here" to which I replied: "your exactly right." Me and most of the people in line behind me left however 3 people stayed like it was no big deal and looked at me like I was some type of monster.
I just hope these are isolated cases....

I also thought that it was regulation that any food that is handled after being cooked that they had to wear gloves.

I do like the places that make the cooks wear gloves. Just a pice of mind.

cooks are also supposed to wear a hair net or some sort of hat, long hair tid back.
Anything in holding must be kept at 140 F or above for cooked items, fresh items must be at 40 F or below. Thermometer that can read 0-200F with in "easy access" meaning not tucked in a desk somewhere, as well all hypocholite sanitizer solution be at 100 ppm as used for wipedowns.
I never worked in fast food either, just food production for 20 years.
Now my pet peave, normally only seen at Subway. Person makes your sandwich, rings up your order, then takes your money before removing their gloves. This is a MAJOR cross contamination hazard.

Some studies show that wearing gloves is actually worse in germ spreading because they wash even less, don't remove them between money handling and food prep, and gives the worker and customer a false sense of security when it comes to cleanliness.
Regardless, under no circumstance is it acceptable to lick your fingers while preparing someone elses food. I am quite sure the manager who claimed germs were burnt off during the cooking process would not accept a burger from you if say you scratched your ass in the middle of cooking is burger.
This all reminds me of Beavis and Butthead in "Tainted Meat" when everyone at the burger world fell out after Beavis was digging in his ass while on the grill!!!

Someone told me today that anyone handling money isn't allowed to handle any food. Is this true?

I worked at Penn Station and we had a minimum of 3 people working the line usually, one who took orders and dealt with money, one person running the grill, and one person doing the toppings of the food and dealing with the fires. Personally I never wore gloves no matter which station I was working at, for many different reasons, but overall they sucked. The person workin the register and taking orders NEVER touched any food without washing hands. I usually worked the grill and I never wore gloves, and I touched the meat all the time and hands were always cleaned. The food had to be grilled and put through the oven still, so in all reality, all germs would have probably been killed, but personally, I was always very careful not to have dirty hands. I wouldn't touch the chicken with bare hands, then touch anything else. My spatulas were never touched by anybody else, and were always clean. The person on the toppings/wrap/running food out to the dine-in customers never touched food with bare hands, always used the tongs to put the toppings on. OSHA standards, we probably should have never touched any food at all, but in my time working there, I never had one person complain about me not wearing gloves at the grill station, but I can see a gripe with hands touching the fresh toppings at the end of the line...... especially somebody licking their nasty ass hands.

Well if she was fat and ugly, that just raises the chances that she had a cack in her mouth. If it was a hot girl, more then likely she had teh meatstick residue on her fingers. Uglies give good head. Hotties give HJ's.

dirtyone55, hate to call BULLSHIT on you............
but OSHA has nothing to do with food handling, that is up to the local Heatlh Department. In a factory setting, such as Koch Foods, Pierre Foods, and John Morrell all three are covered under USDA oversight.
Is your grilled food 160 degrees F when exiting the oven??
Are your spatulas dipped in 100 ppm solution 2-3 times and hour??
Explain your "grille station" as having to handle food coming out at safe temp will normally melt PPE items (personal protection equipment) and that is not good.
I have worked almost every area of the food chain except the live kill floor.........your best off not knowing!!!!!!!
Oh yeah, the waste hot dogs.......and other stuff you don't wanna know about........
Griffin Industries hauled away our inedible product from John Morrell........oopsie!!!

I was at a place called "Sunshine Breakfast Grille" or something like that here in Lawton, OK one day after church. The people I was with insisted on going cuz they had heard it was great. But as we left we could see back where they were cooking, and it was NASTY. I cant really describe it, just NASTY GROSS. Unkempt and such. Whats sad too is that most employees really dont care and get away with it all.

Watch Kitchen Nighmares on Fox, I think. OMG, I'll never eat in a Mexican Resturant ever again. Just think that the resturants on that show are supposed to be high dollar resturants. That show is probably the reality of eating out.

I eat at Fresh Brew just about once a week.
I believe that the manager was shocked! He's a great guy and his staff is really well trained. Maybe she was someone new - because the food I get from there is some of the best in the mall. They've passed their inspections - more than I can say for some of the other places there....

I thought it was OSHA, my bad. I just know that somebody was on us about sanitary issues. I don't know the exact temperatures, but the spatulas for the grill were washed and rotated out after lunch, and dinner rush.

The women manager was slightly overweight but not especially ugly. I do remember the guy working the grill looked just like the crack-head from "The PJ's."
