I can't believe how people are crapping their pants about this "blizzard" we just got. Geez, it was barely enough to dust over the roads and it cost me a 2 our crawl down 75 today because people were driving like retards. Didn't our grandparents drive rear wheel drive 5000lb big block cars with 6 inch wide bias ply tires through more snow than this without all the road treatment? Didn't they do ok? They didn't have AWD or FWD and so many SUV's like we have now, yet they did ok. Why can't people just slow the hell down and drive safe?

And why is it that every decent well mannered guy who drives a truck turns into a F'in cock sucker when it snows??? :lol:


I was out in my Merkur, which still has the less than addequate street tires on it when the snow hit. These tires suck ass in the rain, so I knew i was in for it. But alas, i drove slow and defensively and i made it ok. At one point it was so slick that when traffic would stop, i would just let off the clutch in 1st gear without giving it any gas at all and the back end would drift sideways just under engine idling power. I saw 1 jack-knifed semi (another bunch of people who turn into dicks when it snows) and 3 wrecks while i was out, all of which could've been avoided if they would've just slowed the hell down and drove safer.

I have always been cautious in snow and last year was doing 55 on I64 coming back from ashland in my truck with my daughter, not a flake of snow was sticking on the roads, but it had been snowing for a few hours... hit an overpass was apparently frozen solid... and a gust of wind pushed the ass end of my truck sideways, i got about 15 feet from end of it before i finally lost it, then proceeding to play pinball with my 04 f150 and the guard rail... we came to a stop and i got out to make sure daughter was ok, and truck was moveable. I looked over there was another truck in the center median from same thing... not sure if he had spun before me, or after me. Needless to say i got the fuck outta there and changed the spare before i got hit myself. 30 min later the bridge was shut down, by police and fire dpt. Needless to say no matter how good of a driver, and how cautious you are, only so much can be done. With that being said, why be a fucking idiot and do 80mph and make that chance 1000x more likely

I'm driving my big-ass lincoln with useless traction assist... which I turn off, and also less than adequate tires on it... I manage as well.

I was in Indy all day yestarday. They got hammered by snow and ice. More ice then snow. I left the job site which was 19 miles from 74 to head back to cincinnati at 4:30 yestarday. I got to Loveland on 275 at 9:30 last night. A measly 35-40 MPH down 74 last night. Their were trucks and cars all over the median and down embankments on the way home. I nearly bit the dust 3 times last night. I was moving along around 30-35 and gradually trying to move faster and the ass end would come out. So I thru the old F150 with brand new all terrain tires on it in 4x4 and that helped until it came time to stop. Just tapping the brakes was an absolute nightmare. 74 was an absolute skateing rink and not a damn salt truck around for miles. Seen a Indiana state police cruise upside down on the guardrail just on the other side of Post rd and 74. I wonder if he or she gets cited for failure to maintain. I know if it was me or you we would.

They are already crawling through Ohio at 55 MPH, a dusting of snow doesn't mean they need to do 30 MPH. He probably jack knifed trying to avoid somebody with with fogged up, snow covered windows merging into the side of his truck. Give the truck drivers some credit, they drive more in 5 years than you will in your lifetime.

Most are running 62-63 and not getting pulled over, which I personally have no issue with as traffic moves smoother.

I'm not busting on all trucker drivers...i know it's a tough job. It just seems like they disregard the fact that not everybody is 25k pounds with 18 or so wheels contacting the ground. That day in particular i was driving super slow and sticking to the slow lanes, yet every semi around me was up my ass...it just struck a vein is all.

Those are the dumb ass "Super Truckers"...lol...friggin morons. Had one blow me off the road Friday morning on I65 around the 185mm, which was a SHEET of ice. I was going 25mph and pulling a set of doubles, and he was driving a large car pulling a 53' going at least 60mph. Sure enough, 2 miles down the road he was in the ditch, jacked...lol...what a tool.
Most truck drivers do a great job, but just like motorists, some are morons.
