I need some advise on what gear to put in the wifes car, a 3.73 or a 4.10 Right now it has a 2.73. The motor is an explorer motor with a stock mustang cam. The tranny is an AOD with a stock converter. She will run the car at the track on occassion but it will see most of its time on the hywy back and forth up 32 and 275 to her work and back home.

I have had better luck with 3.55's as far as gas mileage goes on those cars. Seems to be the happy medium.

Hey Steve... I'll trade you a nearly new set of FORD 3.55's for some 3.73's or some other part to be named later :D

For the wife, mostly on the street, 3.55. It's still a big jump in gear from the 2.73s.

I think a 3:73 or 3:55 will be a good choice.

I think that the 3:73s would be the best way to go. I recently got some put in my stang and i'm loving it. If she is not going to do highway driving then 4:10s will also work but i'd still say 3:73s in that baby.
