View Full Version : Need some clutch advice

Its gettin time to put a new clutch in my 94 cobra and im wondering what kind of clutch everyone uses or prefers? im wanting something that grabs hard but its not too wild because the car is my dd.The car has your basic bolt ons nothing crazy I was thinking a Spec stage three dont know though.

i have a King Cobra in mine, feels great and works well as a DD for me in my 93 the same way it did in my 89

Go with a spec.But stage "3" might be much.

i have a King Cobra in mine, feels great and works well as a DD for me in my 93 the same way it did in my 89

same here, they grab harder then stock but still not too bad for dd

Stage three would be highly unnecessary. Stage two would work perfectly for your car.

Yea i sure do. And thanks everyone for the advice. Ive got a king cobra in it right now but the stage 2 sounds like a winner

King cobra is a good clutch for you it is cheapest and just as good as the centerforce. thats what i ran , never had any probs great clutch feel

Nothing wrong with a king Cobra for a DD. I took my out when I upgraded to the G-Force T5 (26 spline) and kept it incase I ever got another Mustang.

I had a King Cobra and it hit pretty hard, but the pedal effort was pretty high. Switched to a Centerforce DF and got the same hit but much easier pedal.

yea ive got a king cobra right now i was pretty pleased with it except for the pedal effort it gets pretty tiring in traffic but i have been looking into a centerforce dual friction also

Mine has held up to 5 years of racing behind a 347.

I have a Spec Stg. 3 in my car but it's only because I need it for the power level I have. Go with the Centerforce Dual Friction it's good for low 11's high tens all day at the track and super easy pedal pressure for daily driving. I even have a Center Force in my 66 Big Block chevelle that runs high tens on the kit and it lasted all year racing and street driving at 3,700 lbs.

Most people end up throwing WAY WAY more clutch at a car than they will ever need. I run my clutch to 8000+ RPM in a 3200lb car and run 10.20s @ 131 mph and if I told you what clutch I run you wouldn't believe me LOL. With that being said I would look strongly at the ACT clutches they are a great product and retain a very good pedal. One of there Street clutches would work perfect for you.

Good advice here. Brandon has proven he has this clutch stuff figured out. I had the best luck with Spec stage 1-2 and Ram stock replacement clutchs.
