View Full Version : CSR Thermostst housing

Anyone running one of these housng from CSR? They have the rotating outlet for the hose. The problem i ran into is that the thermostat i was using will not fit into it. I know if i leave it out all together it will run very cold and probably rich as hell.

Any ideas?

You could run a restrictor, not sure how it would do w/ the fuel injection stuff but it works fine for carb stuff

Take an old thermostat if you have one laying around and pull the spring and hardware out of it. It works well to slow down the flow some. Its all I used to run in my old stroked Windsor.

Craig may have some of the orifice plates at his shop. I think that is where I got mine. It's a piece of mind for the race beast knowing your thermostat wasn't going to stick.

That's what i was looking at today in the jegs catalog at work. I am gonna run by Cincy tomorrow and see if Craig has them.

that worked very very well for my setup also.

i would drive 35miles, some in the city drivign and it wouldnt come off of cold, the engine had heat in it and it ran good.

I used to have a FMS aluminum radiator, the motor was 11.0:1 and all I used was a black magic fan. If the car was rolling, you could turn the fan off. I don't see a need to buy something to accomplish the same task.:confused:

The problem with the thermostat, The part where it goes to a point will not fit inside the housing i have. i geuss i could cut it down some and try that.

Ahh, well that's a whole different story, I've never seen them aside from the one picture you posted up for me. You could try and cut it down, or make something for that matter.

The restrictors seem to work pretty well, but don't plan on getting any heat into the motor quickly if it's cold out.

I ran a 3/4" moroso restrictor when I had a stock thermostat housing. I dont drive a ton on the street but when I did I had no problems. Now I have an Hoses that are 3/4 in-diameter with no restrictor and all is well for me.

I ended up cuttng the backsdide of the thermostat off and pulling the sensor out. And i put it in backwards, It should do the same thing as a restrictor.
