My new project is about to begin. I guess it already has by gathering parts but tomorrow the actual work will begin. I am putting a 32 valve lincoln motor into my 85 GT. It will not be just a typical mod motor swap though. Its going to be similar to my old setup as it will be a carburated blow thru turbocharged engine. I have located the intake from Sullivan Performance and have it here now. I am using a MSD Mod 6 ignition system that is basically a stand alone that has tuneable for the electronic side. I have to change K members and thats were I'll start. I will have to change the internals inside the engine at some point to forged but that will have to wait for a little. Once the engine is in I can fab up the turbo kit. I havent decided on a trans yet, I really want to do a 6 speed but budget will dictate that for now. I am going to try and take pictures throughout but that usually starts good but doesnt last. I have a bunch of people to thank for help with this and I will as it goes on. Stay tuned.

Courtesy if RIXXX93GT these plates are made to fit the c head intake to a b head. I thought this up and Rick made it possible. I have to say again Rick Thank you.

http://i732.photobucket.com/albums/ww324/85gt4v/adapterplatelowerside.jpg

Side view or intake and carb, I will be doing a little modification to my hood.

http://i732.photobucket.com/albums/ww324/85gt4v/intakesidepic.jpg

And after a bunch of fitting and eyeballing we decided to pull the motor back out and get it ready to port the heads and a few other things for the turbo kit.

http://i732.photobucket.com/albums/ww324/85gt4v/engineteardown.jpg

The coolest part is I fit my old turbo kit up and with very minor mods it will be reused. I cant believe how close it was and my turbo will be in the exact same place it was before.

Rick that was Kar Kraft, they use adapters the fit a 302 intake to a mod motor. I looked at them also and would have been half the price of the one I bought but is not a big power producer. More just a cool factor for hot rods.

Well its been way to long but here is an update. I did sell my bike:( but I have been collecting parts and have had the block machine work done. It now is sporting main studs and head studs and is .020 over. I got a steel crank and Manley H beams. Pistons are on order, I went with JE's with compression going to be right around 9.4:1. E-85 will keep detonation down and I'm keeping my intercooler for now just in case. For now I am working porting the heads, I have 6 hours in the first one and its about done. After the other head is done I will be cleaning everything very good and pick up the balanced rotating assembly and get this thing together. Here's a few pics I took today.

I have been working steady on alot of small things. I have had the complete front end off to clean the engine compartment. The steering column and pedal assembly has been out and I made a new stud on the brake pedal for the hydroboost to mount. That is all back in and I made new brake lines and moved and mounted the line lock up under the hydroboost.

http://i732.photobucket.com/albums/ww324/85gt4v/Hydroboost.jpg

I also have finally modifying the turbo kit and its all welded up and painted, I am also planning on doing a wrap on it when it goes in for good.

http://i732.photobucket.com/albums/ww324/85gt4v/Newturbokit.jpg

And here are a few pics of some of the new parts going in the engine, I am waiting on buying the new bearings, head gaskets, and an oil pump and its time to clean and assemble.

http://i732.photobucket.com/albums/ww324/85gt4v/JEpiston.jpg

http://i732.photobucket.com/albums/ww324/85gt4v/Newcrank.jpg

I also have sitting a new SFI balancer and SFI flywheel. The complete rotating assembly has been balanced all the way out including the pressure plate. I had all this done by a professional race engine shop in Gary IN. I have know the owner for some time and he agreed to get involved in my project.

I have to decide what I'm going to do with the cams and springs, I have some in mind but I may use the stockers this year to get it finished and do the swap next season.

Back from the dead, Finally I can say I have a running and driving mustang again. I have to say a big thanks goes out to alot of people, Rich, Rixxx93GT, Maximus, NXcoupe, Mustangboy, Sparky and many more. I have changed to a TH400 auto and have completly rebuilt it. It has been like 20 years since I've seen the inside of and automatic but I took my time and did lots of research. It is now in the car and it move on its own today for the first time and I have to say that was a great feeling. I took it up the road for a short drive because I still have to get it aligned and renew my plates but it shifts nice and I got into it a little and I cant wait to get it tuned and see what it can do, so far it spools very quickly and gets to about 12#'s instantly and I havent even thought about full throttle. I need to take some updated pics of everything but havent done that yet.

He told me to let it idle for quite a while to let it finish curing. I think that's what he was talking about.

You just need to try and run it gently for an hour or so

:bigthumb Its ran close to that now, I will not be doing any hard driving until it has E-85 in it and been tuned. I have been burning up what little race fuel i had left over from last year so far.

I little tip on your E85. I've been talking to Jeff88Coupe and you should be able to get full summer blend E85 from Kroger. I've not verified it here at the the local Kroger pumps put I plan on it shortly. The other station I get E85 from (Gas America) is down to E75 already.

I want to see this thing rip! Any idea when you will be dynoing it?

The Gas America on Alex Bell? We were there today and the pump said e-85...?

MFIELD

Yes we switched to E-85 today for the first time. Very shortly after putting it in the car started to stumble and stall. Couldnt keep it running. After a couple small adjustments we had it back up and idleing perfect again. A small test in the driveway showed there still wasnt enough fuel going in. A quick jet change in the front of the carb and we had power again. It has a small stumble right of idle but I'm pretty sure a squirter swap and some testing will fix this. I have a few other things I will be doing to the carb and get a new O2 sensor for my wideband to get the tune close before it goes to the dyno and we get serious. The longer the weather holds out the farther I will get this year. I dont see the track happening but I'm good with that knowing I'll be ready a soon as the weather breaks in the spring. I did go get new plates for it today and got some personal one I think are cool. They will read.....4V 4EYE

Ohh, I forgot to say that with the E-85 running in it the engine was warm and we could touch the intake and it was very cold just like everyone says.

How much tuning diference will there be between the two?

a lot! I will PM you some info we've found with all the E85 cars we've tuned so far.

I forget, are you running an E85 specific carb? If not, what are you doing to the carb to convert it over?

NXcoupe

Probably larger jets, and some other mods. You should go show him your toy.

John I had already modded mine for blowthru so going farther wont be to bad. If I bought an e85 specific carb I still would have to modify that one for my setup or pay 2 arms and a leg so I will do what I have to to mine. Like Mike said bigger jets some turning on the mixture screws and some internal drilling.:D So far so good but I need a new sensor for my wideband.

I'm not a carb expert but I think you need an e85 specific metering block among other things on top of changing the jetting. There are some guys that know tons more about e85 carb conversions than I could ever dream of over on E85performance.net.

For a blow through turbo car, I believe you'll find the best information from theturboforums. That being said, there is also a list of guys combination's and the jetting they are using. I haven't looked though it all, but you may find someone on there with a similar setup.
