there is 5 stores in my company. somehow only me and one other guy managed to get to work today. he actually has two others show up to work while i am stuck here bymyself. now the district manager told him he can close his shop down for the day, but told me to stay here bymyself. the only store in the whole company open. this is some bs.

my buddy greg lives here in NKY and is store manager for an advance auto in ohio, he couldnt get out today because of the weather down here, but thankfully his assistant who lives 2 blocks away was able to get there and open the store.

After I shattered an inch of ice off of my Lincoln this morning... Not to mention the snow that was falling as I was doing it... I then had to DIG my fuggin car out of the ice and make tracks to back out of the damn lot... and only with my TINY FUCKING ICE SCRAPER.
To top it all off, I venture into work on the shittiest of shitty roads, only to get another boat load of snow hit, and then Hamilton county declare a level 3 about an hour into my day
I could have just stayed home. But I am still here Taking one for the team... Just me and one other guy... On a VERY BUSY helpdesk with 65 calls for the day. (average 45-55 with 4 people)

Work is work. I know the easy thing to do is just throw up your hands and say F it. It is days like this that management remembers. It could be a good mark in your employee file. You may have to bring it up to your boss but you made it in. That says something. Management looks for people like that.

This Ice/Snow event is one of the worst I have seen in my 30 years of being in Field Service. It had a lot to do with the snow falling first, followed by rain which turned into freezing rain, followed by more snow, not to mention the ice in trees and on powerlines. It's almost impossible for road departments to deal with weather like this, and it could have been more severe.
Really, one needs to do the best they can reporting for work, and I found everyone seemed to allow for driving delays getting to and from. And Keith is right. The boss will remember your effort getting out to work despite the driving conditions.
Spring is right around the corner anyway, and it's almost Racetime again!:bigthumb
