A couple clicks up... and couple clicks to the left.... and it was on target....:bigthumb

Here is a target... I would say 100ft plus, open sights, and in the freezing cold!

Way cool . You gun has the wrong switch on the side of it it should read semi/auto. 3 round bursts were even fun.

Maybe one day in the near future!;)

I also have a ERGO Tactical DLX Grip, but I don't know if I like it enough to put it on yet.... might get rid of it for a different one.

Nice!! Congrats on getting it together. It would cost you 13 grand to get that selecter switch to go one more notch. Worth it in my opinion!!

Thats a nice AR. I like the Hogue grips on my ar's.

Keith, is correct also when it would be worth it for the selector switch.

If you get good enough with yours, they may issue you one. All the Ft Wright Cruisers have them. Ceiling mounts. You can walk up on the car and unless you bend down and look up, you don't even know it is there. Pretty cool. Now if I can find one for my expedition.....

I went through JTdistributors and purchased the kit. I had a lot up upgrades, like $190 handguards and ect.....
Also I purchased the Smith and Wesson MP15 lower at $240, because a good lower are hard to come by right now. I have two more lowers on order, but they are about 6-7 months out... and I didn't want to wait. I will probably end up selling one of them.

Total right now.. about $1200-1300. That is still about $300 or so cheaper than the one I was going to buy at a gun store, and it was not exactly what I wanted.

All said and done, I would definatly build your own. It is much cheaper and you get a better/what you want gun.

You could build a basic one for about $650-$800.

We need a section for all these gun related topics. I could be a mod for it.

A gun section would be great since guns and such seem to be a very hot topic of discussion as of late on almost any discussion forum.

The gun looks nice. I am waiting on the last of my parts to come in for the complete build, and I hate waiting on parts to come in.

I bought a flat top upper in hopes of putting some sort of decent optic on, but I need to go out and use a few different styles so I can see what my options are.

I will have $800 and some change into everything on the gun minus the optic that I decide to go with. I can get an open sight for around $30.00, but I would really like to go with some kind of red dot or something, and am guessing around $130.00 for that.

Good looking gun, I do like those Smiths but I just can't bring myself to pay the inflated prices on them.
But I also like to keep my ARs simple.
Here is my patrol rifle. Simple Rock River with a few modifications, Hogue Grip and an extended charging handle release.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v432/Black92LX/IMG_5856-1.jpg

If you plan to use that as your patrol rifle I have three suggestions for you. Three things that came in very very handy went I went through my 40 hour patrol rifle school that by the end of the week everyone was headed to buy.

1. Extended Charging Handle Release (you may have one just can't tell from the picture)
http://www.wilsoncombat.com/r_charging_handle.asp
makes it much easier to charge one handed even with one finger or if you have gloves on.

2. Get yourself a midlength handguard. Two reasons for this. 1 it extends your sight radius making slightly more accurate but the main reason when you shoot from cover you do not want to rest the barrel on the cover but the handguard.
If you have a shorty for maximum stability you are squeezed into your cover in attempt to rest the handguard on it. With the mid length you get yourself a little distance giving you a more comfortable position your body is not so squeezed and breathing is much easier. We had some extended shoot from cover drills and I was much more at ease and could stay in it longer than the guys with the sorties.

3. Rubber Grip. I went through patrol rifle school in August so it was about 90+ degrees. With the sweat on the hands those standard grips are slick and trying to bring the gun up while running can be pretty annoying have it sliding even the smallest amount.

Congrats on the new weapon, I am sure your going to enjoy it.

Keith, All I am going to say is SP1, you should know what that is. Sssssh. Let's kee that on the down low.

Any ways if push comes to shove, I'll be breaking out the FN-FAL any ways and if that don't do it I always have my RPK as a good back up.

If the FN-FAL is a real one, hold on to that one. Mine is a military parts gun built on an Imbel receiver. Not a real one, just a clone. Good shooting .308!!!!

Yes, as much as I would like to have a real one as well, I am in the same boat with you but I did have mine totally reworked at one of the better gun shop out here and it's die on out to 150 yards +/-. If I slap on the scope, I can go out to a much great range.
