ryan bought some parts for the 05 gt. ( BBK throttle body, BBK CAI, and some other stuff. ) we put the TB and CAI on today and started it. seemed to rev a little funny. took it down the street and got a engine fail safe mood. pulled back into garage and found an exposed wire from the maf meter. fixed that and took like 5 seconds of cranking over to start. shut off..now it wont start. when you turn the key to the on position you can hear the throttle body open up and go wide open. what would cause this? there was a spring and it said to rotate 180* counter clockwise. im prtty sure i did but i may have done it 180* clockwise.

any ideas? going to check TPS tomm (ran out of time tonight) and check that spring as well. any ideas?

Try putting the stocker back on and see if it fires. If it fires you need to get it tuned. That is where I would start.

You can't put that stuff on the car without a tune/programmer. It won't run with a safe a/f ratio. We have installed those BBK throttle bodies before and they work fine, but sometimes the tps will fail. Put the stock tb back on and see if fires as mentioned above.

we have a hand held programmer.

i turned the spring 180* clockwise and not couterclockwise like i should off. so the thorrtle as soon as turning the key to the on position was going wide open and when you would push the gas peddle it would close it.

Just making sure, but does the programmer have a tune for the BBK CAI?

I am running this same TB and have issues with it too. Idle sometimes drops below 750rpm and sometimes so low the car dies. Other times it takes a long time for it to rev down. I've even had the car shut off while driving. Mostly when slowing down to turn, just idles down too much it seams. I had the car tuned with the TB too. Maybe it's not adjusted right or just blows??!!

I'm having some more work done on the car soon (cams & full exhaust) by Dayton Performance, hopefully I can get it sorted out then. If not I'll ditch it. Only picked up 3hp on top, and for the $300+ dollars I paid for it, not worth the headache!

It wasn't doing that before hand, so it must be a glitch somewhere.

not that i found in it. after i install my heads and upper lower and TB on my 5.0 were both going to go get our cars tuned.

his car pulled up the fail safe mode again. i went in a cleared the code with the programmer and its been fine since. the 05 is on a 93 tune right now.

It's going to keep doing that till the car gets tuned. Did it just go into failsafe mode or did it also throw a code?

fail safe, didnt throw a code, 50 miles on it since it was put on. hasnt had thrown a code yet, im sure it will though.

It will definitely go into safe mode again. Just take it off until you get the car tuned. It is not worth the headache.
