i have a 351 W with a leaking rear main seal. I was wondering what options i have when installing a new one to prevent it from leaking again. EX: soaking it in oil beofre install, install dry. Just curious what everybody liked doing when installing one??
thanks

Is it a one piece seal or a two part? Never soak them in oil, you do need to put some sort of a lubricant on the seal lip that touches the crankshaft to keep it from tearing on start up. I would say a white lithium or something like that would work fine. Use a thin feeler gauge to run the lip onto the crank on a one piece seal so it doesn't get damaged as you push it on.
