I have both a 302 (with low miles) and a 351w (that need gone through). I am curious what the power difference would be with the same parts used on both engines(yes, I know the intakes won't swap)

The top end will consist of:

Unported track heats
1.6 tfs rockers
Victor jr. or stealth intake (Have both)
and a 650cfm or 750cfm proform hp Race series carb
And this cam:

If the hp and tq numbers are big enough difference I will do the 351. I have never ran a Windsor and honestly don't know how big a difference it would make. The only accessory on the car is the Alt. My estimate for the 302 with this combo is 350hp and tq. I would assume the 351 would make more torque, but how much more? Also, how much difference would there be between the two intakes?

If you can swing it go with a windsor, you can run a lot more power through a stock windsor block and lots of tourqe, I have a windosr in my car and ill never go back to a 302. The parts are a little more, but worth the fun in my opinion.

I had considered the 351 conversion but i have too much money in my 302 just to swap it out and rebuild another motor

But what would the power difference be? Same cam, Victor intake, 750 carb how much power and torque would it make?

no really sure, with decent heads and an intake and cam, my 351 made 420 horse and 420 tq, i have a trick flow intake and rpm heads that kinda choke the motor and a extreme energy 274 cam, i love my windsor. I think its worth the swap if you dont have too much money in the 302

If you have future plans for some sort of power adder I would go with the Windsor. If you are going to leave it N/A I think the 302 will serve you well.

351 for block strength and added torque. It would benefit from porting the heads, but they would work as cast. The cam is pretty aggressive for a 302, so it would be tamed down a bunch on the windsor, but I bet it would make good power.

Yea, the cam would be pretty radical in the 302 but mild in the windsor. Is the cam a hyd. roller? If so, take into account that you will have to run the high dollar link bar roller lifters. All in all I would NEVER go back to a 302 setup, unless of course it was a stroker dart block setup.

Amen to that
