I have owned a few hot rods, old cars, etc...

However, I found that there is a die hard mentality to owning Mavericks.

So I present this challenge to all you Mustang owners.

What year is the car and what year did you acquire it?

I have had my maverick since 1992.

I hated it but after seeing a few pimped mavericks I got the sickness.....
I will not own anything but a maverick these days....

I have owned
61 Falcon 2 sr wagon
88 Tbird Turbo Coupe
81 Mustang with those TRX rims...lol
94 Ford Probe that I hand built a twin turbo system for.....
83 pontiac Grand prix

No offense to mustang owners its just that they got boring to me....What hasn't been done to a mustang...same goes for Camaro and/or novas....

I remember back in the early 90's everybody laughing at my maverick with its super 6 ,pea green paint, black vinyl top, but times change and every where I take the car I get 10 times the positive notice now. I get the I used to have a maverick story all the time.....or i got my first piece of ass in one....never thought a maverick would look so cool....the best is I had a maverick with a boss 302 and 4 speed factory car.....which they never made except for like one prototype.....

Any way my maverick friends and I think we are more loyal to our rides....
What say you?

I was cool reading this post all the way up to the end, I guess I would be loyal to my ride to if I dumped cash into it like you do yours. But on the other side I like mavricks alot. My father had a mavrick and a comet and I loved both of them. His mavrick was no were near were yours is, but was a strong runner after he dumped a new engine and tranny combo in. Post some pics of your ride up.

Pretty cool.

Ive had my '71 Mav since '96. I will own it forever as it has sentimental value. My great grandmother bought it brand new in '71. When I was 15 she was too old to drive anymore, so I bought it as my first car. It was barely road worthy when I picked it up. I spent the year before I turned 16 working on it for when I could drive. Its only a 250 straight six, but I had one of the coolest cars when I was in high school. :coo1: Its pearl white with black interior. Has about 65,000 miles on it.

After about two years of driving it, I realized I would tear it up as a daily driver so I parked it. I need to drag it out and start the restore on it.

I have a 1971 Cutlass, I bought it in Oct 1997 when I was a Senior in high school. Its been though the 'restore to stock phase,' the 'lowrider phase,' and now I am throwing speed parts at it so I can hopefully make it to the track this summer.

Bought my GT last May off of my Dads friend for a hell of a deal, $3500 for an unmolested 117,000 mile car. Has been nothing but a great dependable car since(knocks on wood).

I bought my 88 vert in the spring of 93. Got rid of my 70 barracuda(DOH!) so I could buy something a little newer. It's gone through a lot of changes, and now it is a 347 with a D1SC and a viper 6 speed along with a host of other changes. I think it will be finding a new home at some point. Just too many cars!

My car is in a million pieces....

Nothing to see at this point...:(

I have another couple years to have it back together.

I dumped cash into this car because I knew it was the"one" :D

and I am by no means bashing on mustangs. I love them, just bored with them..... I just do not get any personal satisfaction owning/building one, but I can appreciate those that do!!!and that little jab at the end was more of a "lets livin this place up thing"

to be fair not all those mods are complete yet and subject to change....;):D

The jab at the end was the whole my maverick friends think we like our cars better than mustang guys....just trying to see some spirit/pride of ownership:popcorn:

i got my 91 coupe in 1994 ... 8k miles ... so ive had it for 15 years now ... currently 24k miles on the body & 1700 or so miles on the 331 ...

i was a 20 year old kid when i bought it for $10,050 ~ not sure how i kept it intact, being barely out of my teenage years ... i didnt know anything about mustangs at that time, i knew they were quick and that was enough ... i kind of wish i wouldnt have touched it, but again ~ what fun is a stock car that runs 15's ...

Bought my '91 coupe in '94 same year my daughter was born, and still have it to this day. Been through more mods/changes than I can mention, and i'm sure it will never be done. Would like to see some mid nine second passes this year if possible.

Bought my 93' on my 17th birthday, so I've had it almost 6 years now. My dad and I paid $2300 for the shell.

Found the car through Keith at Strickers, as my dad knew him pretty well. The car was pretty much stripped when I got it, but some of you may know Chance Jacobs, who I'm pretty sure was the previous owner.

Cool topic!:cool1:

I have a 1985 Mustang GT hatchback I bought new in late in 1984. It's had one engine re-build. She's getting a bit of rust but still starts and runs good.
Basically, my '85 is our lil truck, that hatch can swallow a lot. Keeps me from carrying junk in my 2006 GT convertible.

By the way, I love Mavericks. I've never owned one, but I always wanted a nice straight six with 3 on the tree as a work car.

I've owned my '90 SSP coupe since December of 1997 (12 yrs) and at that time it had full exhaust and pullies riding on 10 holes. Over the years the car has had basic preventative maintenance and nothing more, but it's only in the last 2 1/2 years or so I have slowly added a few parts that have enhanced slightly the acceleration and looks of the car.

Peace :cool2:

I've had my '88 coupe since June of '99. Took me all of a week to throw a few little mod's on it and take it to the track. Got it to run a 13.69 at 101 with the stock 2.73 gears. It's been a quest to go faster ever since.

I currently own:

1977 Mustang II- Grandma's car, she traded it in to Jeff Wyler for a mazda shitbox, then it turned up in my town 2-3 years later with only 4,000 miles more than it had when she sold it, which was 36,000. I drove it everyday for about a year and a half, hit a deer, and parked it. it has about 65,xxx miels on it now. Will be restored one day... when they reproduce parts! I've had this car since I was 15, I am almost 23 now.

Also have an '85 coupe which I've had for about a year and a half. Friend owed me a few bucks and he didnt have much in the car and just gave it to me. Found a title for it and just been collecting parts for it since. It'll come out and play sooner or later.

I've also got an '88 LX hatchback, I've had it for almost 3 years I think, I got it for a $100 and a car stereo. I've been collecting parts for it for a few years, should have it on the ground eventually and playing in UMTR.

Last of the current mustangs is my '94 GT which I've had since '06 I think. It had 129K on it when I bought it, and now it has 223K and still kicking, it has had some dramatic visual changes compared to when I first got it. Most of them were on purpose

And my '93 4V powered Hotrod Lincoln, Just bought it in like October of November, Had to put a few dimes in it, but it has been a fun car so far.

My Former owned vehicles are:

1974 Plymouth Scamp, 318/auto on the column, Eggshell white with jade green interior. It was the best running lawn ornament I've ever owned!!!

And last but not least, my first V8 mustang GT 5-speed... My '89 GT I bought when I turned 18. This was the car that possessed me to sign up on here. She was a wore out whore owned by just about everyone around, bought it for $550 and put a motor in it, drove it every day for about 6 months trying to reform it's whore-like ways when I wrecked it in the snow storm of '04. It's remains have helped lots of cars, and the majority of them are now in the '88.

I refer to this as the "Mustang Circle of Life"

I've had my '88 coupe since June of '99.

Vinny bought Twisted Twins (when it was just a black GT) in the spring of 1999, ten years ago. Hard to believe (I met him in the spring of 2000). But I'm 99% sure that if he were still alive, that car would be long gone. He didn't plan on keeping it after 2007, he just wanted to race it, then get rid of it and start another project - preferably, my 1992 coupe - he had big plans for it. :(
