I'm running 1.94 intake valves in my heads...which are a bit bigger than what he has in the GT40s and i did the whole piston to valve clearance check routine when the cam went in and it had plenty of clearance. As long as you don't play with the advance/retard of the cam you'll be fine. The GT40s (the non P versions) are virtually identical to the old C9 351 heads except for having smaller combustion chambers, and i've read that Ford designed the iron GT40s after them. You'll have a tad more compression than i had..something around 9.5:1. Remember that lift isn't so much the killer as far as piston to valve clearance goes...it's more about duration and LSA that cause the problem since full lift occurs when the piston is at the bottom of the stroke away from the valves...it's how long it takes the valves to open and close and when they do so that makes clearance issues.
Oh by the way, the engine is out and ready to pick up...so give me a call tomorrow around 4pm or so when my buddy gets home and you can come and get it :D
