grinding noise coming from the rear?

I got a grinding noise from the rear kinda sounds like the brakes but its deff not any ideals what this could be Thanks for any pointers.

It could be the brakes. Usually when it is the rearend itself it is the pinion bearing. I have patched a few by simply changing the outer bearing, but wen the damage is done it contaminates everything. I have seen axle bearings cause a similar problem as well which is ugly because it usually requires new axles. Again you can patch them with the "repair" bearings that move the bearing to a different part of the shaft. I haven't had very good luck with those. They buy about 15,000 miles.

i would check the fluid in the rear end and then check the shaft bearings
