No, she is not a felon, and this is not a joke. It just shows how dedicated she is to our cause of saving innocent dogs.

That's right--it's not a joke.

She was hauled off to jail this afternoon because of her love for animals.

The Mahoning County (Ohio) Dog Pound had 8 "pit bull" (are they really? Who knows) puppies in custody and the puppies were scheduled to be put to sleep only because of the breed. My wife did what she had to do to attempt to save as many puppies as she could and was arrested today for it.

She is being held overnight and is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing sometime tomorrow morning.

I'm trying to rally the media if I can. The police officers actually told her they were proud of what she did.

The puppies are still listed on the website.

And.... what did she did? Pits get a bad rap from the media. It's stupid.

It is not the breed, it is the people who train them. Most pits I see in customer's homes are lovey and playful. I am an animal lover and commend your wife for what she did! Hope it all works out for the best.

It has been brought to my attention that the pups have been/will be released to an out of state Breed Specific rescue. She saved them from being killed.

My mother out law has 4 pits. They are awesome dogs. We can lay our 9 month old daughter on the floor and the 2 pits that stay inside will lay right next to her and not let anybody get close to her. If my oldest 2 go outside the 2 indoor pits go outside with my girls. They follow them around and protect them..It's all in the idiots that raise them..

These dogs really get screwed over by the media bias, brutality and greed of humans gave them the bad rep. Thanks to people like you and your wife maybe that misconception can be changed. She should be very proud.

I've seen my share of mean pits, but my brother has always had great pits that loved to play with the kids.

I hope your wife didn't do anything like B&E!

it all depends on how you raise a dog

what was she charged with??

I am assuming some sort of trespassing.

I'm thinking Obstruction, Misdemeanor Theft, Criminal Damaging, Trespassing. One or a combination of those.

Man thats legit that she did that. Let me know if you want a hook up on legal advice. What county and municipality did this happen in?

Nope--making an example out of her and charged her with B&E. I called to make sure things were set to get her out this afternoon and then was told that because she is on house arrest, i have to contact someone to set it up

Already paid the bond, now she may not be able to get out for the weekend.

Holy shit I can't believe they charged as high as BnE. Thats bull shit.
At least it has a lot of room to reduce.

On a side note in your first post you stated she is not a felon.
I could be wrong but I do believe in Ohio Breaking and Entering is a 5th Degree Felony.

I understand the moral high ground on this one. Honestly I do as a dog lover and Pit Bull owner.
But you're wife is playing with fire and she is very likely to get burned. There are lots of people that love animals, but there are just as many if not more that could honestly careless.
If she has the option to plea down to a misdemeanor she should probably do it. Never how how many of the 12 jurors would not be so sympathetic especially to that of a breed that many and I mean many feel should be exterminated.

KeithExactly right!!

Pits are only as BAD/GOOD as their OWNERS! PERIOD!

My next door neighbor just brought home a Brindle Pit Bull puppy a couple of weeks ago. The dog is a PURE JOY and does NOT have a mean bone in it's body.

My (2) Beagles are extremely keen on sensing other dogs and people's energy and they LOVE their new friend!

And other neighbor's of ours have (2) Pit Bulls that are INSIDE dogs. They are extremely well behaved and friendly.

Thank God for people like your wife! :bigthumb

Best thing the OP's family can do is try to make the case as big a deal as possible to put the most pressure on the Prosecutors IMO

That is horrible... I can't believe something like that happened to her. Let me know if there is anything we can do to help. I signed a couple petitions last year for pitbulls- for them to not be banned, and would love to get one one day. Keep us posted.
