Ok long story but basicly I sold my explorer motor w/Ecam to a girl for her 87 town car. We installed it and went to fire it up and it whould not start. Well we then realized/ remembered the e cam used the HO fireing order but the TC does not. SO what is the easiest solution to the problem? I whould rather keep the cam in the car, Chould I just change the plugs on the injectors? Swap to a map sensored stang comp. HELP!!??? Thanks in advance

Well i'm no EFI guy, but i would think just the ECU and firing order but i'm sure someone with more knowledge will chime in.

I have a friend with a Thunderbird tht has the different firing order than the Mustang. When I sold him my old cam all he did was just change the firing order to what the Mustang calls for.

you would have to change the injector order too.

didnt have to change injector order on my car, and it worked perfectly, just wired the correct firing order for the motor and was good to go.

If you are using the factory harness, it is already set for HO firing order.

Buckeye is putting an HO cammed engine, in a non-HO car, there for the factory harness, is set up for non-HO. Changing the firing order, of the plugs and injectors is needed.

We are gonna try repinning the injector harness. I think this will work. Should be the best sounding and maybe the fastest 87 tc around.. lol

I put an '87 grand marquis 302 in my '89 GT a few years ago, I used the top half of the motor (intake) from the GT, all I had to do was changed the plug wires around.

Wouldn't I have had to do that as well?

I would think as fast as the engines are running at idle, that the injectors would be almost at full duty cycle anyway and it wouldnt affect it much?

I can't explain what I am thinking, but I know what I am talking about... If that makes any sense

The injectors are constantly running anyway, almost, right?

Either way, I did pretty much the same thing but backwards, I put a non-HO 5.0 in an HO car. Without re-pinning anything... All I did was switch the plug wires and it ran like a scalded dog

Maybe I'm just missing something.... Like sleep.

I don't believe that injector firing order would matter at all- look at all the batch fire cars that have no trouble at all. I vote for swap a couple plug wires and see how she runs.

Read this first! Re-pinning it, will cause problems, with the ECU.

No, read what I said, above. Your GT had the correct ECU and injector order.

It really only has to do, with lower RPM. When the engine gains RPM, any problems go away.
