I have a set of comp cams valve springs that a guy had on his 302 with an X-cam, I am putting them on my explorer motor with an E-cam and 1.7's, my question is... will a set of stock keepers and retainers hold the valves in place with those double-wound springs, or is there a need to upgrade?

If they didnt come with the Red and Black keepers I would order a set from Comp. And the top retainer caps also.

Are they pricey?

im checkin.Shouldnt be to expensive.I put the behive springs on my coupe and you HAVE to have the right caps and retainers for the springs. The RED set is for the intake and the BLACK set is for the exhaust.
Ok.Valve spring retainers I dont know.
But the small locks are about 25 bucks for a set.
You could probly call comp and ask the tech line, they would probly answer alot better than me.
