I am looking at getting the Ford Racing High Flow Oil Pump, but it states the oil pan may need to modified. I did this swap about 15 years ago and I do not remember having to mod. the oil pan.
Has anyone done this recently and did they have to mod the oil pan? If so what did you have to do?

Thanks

A high volume pump is really not necessary in a 5.0.

A high volume pump with a stock pan can get sucked dry. That's why they say it needs modified. It's true you don't need a high volume pump if your bearing clearances are right.

Okay, I am probably going to end up with the stock bottom end, with HCI swap. Was wanting the block taken out to at least a 306 with forged internals, but I do not think my budget is going to let me right now.

So I am guessing I should wait until I get a larger pan, like a 7 qt. one?

Thanks for the replies.

You can't ever go wrong with more capacity, especially if your racing. I'd opt for a better pan with a new standard volume pump. That's all I have in my new 383 turbo motor.
