At high rpm under load theres a rattle. I am guessing valves? If I really get in it I see some smoke. I cant tell if its black or blue. I do have an exhaust leak somewhere. Not a real bad one but I can tell its there. I also smell gas sometimes. No wet spots in the garage.
It has an h pipe, flowmasters, 24lb injecters. holley fuel pump, throttle body spacer, and an aftermarket (summit) mass air. Bored .30 over. I think thats everything that would have to do with the problem. Could it be starving on gas? It seems to have good enough power but I dont care for the noise. I notice it when the engine it warm. It does it on premium gas and low grade gas.

Its a 92 lx 5.0
Thank you Sean

I agree with Chris, it sounds like detonation. Check the initial timing with the spout removed and set it to around 13 or 14 degrees. If it still does it, then move up a grade of gasoline. It could just have a bunch of carbon built up in it.
